Default Vibration from 75-85 mph 2007 LS460

Our 2007 LS 460 (98k miles) drives like a dream except from about 75-85 mph we have a general vibration. Its most evident in the steering wheel but everything in the car has a general vibration. It may have been there for a few months now, but I felt it when I drove it yesterday. There is absolutely no vibration below 75 and none above 85 (I was cruising at 90 mph and the car was solid). I tried to do some investigating:

Tires: Appear to be fine in regards to wear and the tire pressure is about the same in all of them in the mid 30s. Alignment is fine and the car does not pull to any side.

Brakes: New brake pads about 10k miles ago at dealership and work absolutely fine.

Transmission / engine (I hope not): The car is 7th gear at that speed but it usually is anytime above 50mph so its quite odd. We don't lose power and no lights are set off.

Body work / damage: doesn't appear to be anything on the front or sides of the car that cause this.

Any thoughts?

have you had your rotors tested , and the reason why i say this is because my wife had the exact same issues on her 4runner about a month ago that you have stated about shaking at 70-80 mph. So i had the rotors checked at O'reilly Auto Parts and the guy said that they were below the recommended level of thickness. After i put new rotors on it drives and stops smooth as glass at 70-80mph i was able to even get up to about 110mph and still smooth, so have your rotors checked its FREE

Agree with above. Rebalancing your tires can also be an easy fix

Thanks for the above response. I find it odd that the problem persists from a window at 75-85mph and anything slower or faster the car has no problems...odd

I'll look into both things for sure but any other feedback?

Just had this in my 07. Torque converter was my problem. Tranny flush by Lexus fixed it.

No, that's not odd at all. When tires are out of balance they typically will vibrate only in a narrow speed range. Get them balanced and I'm sure your problem will be solved. Make sure that you take it to a place that uses a Hunter Roadforce balancer.

Hi, did they replace the torque converter or only flushed it? Thanks.
