Unless you've owned the car since day one, you really never know what happened before you got it. Carfax doesn't / can't capture everything.
I agree it's unacceptable, but it doesn't mean it's due to an accident. I think it's just not closing as tightly on the left hand side and I'm sure a bodyshop could correct it. I have seen other examples though as others have mentioned in this thread.

Thanks !

That color of red on your car is Beautiful and different! You don't see that color often (I've actually never seen that color, but it looks Really good)!

mmmm The Hold button is my favorite. Only problem is when I drive another car, I find myself taking my foot off the brake at lights. Happens all the time.

I adjusted the trunk myself tonight; it's about 99% perfect now. I think the bolts needed tightened up more than anything else.

Yes, Tee's red was my first choice as well, but I couldn't find one in the exec package, and my 2nd choice was silver. I'm too lazy to keep red/black clean all the time anyway; I can go long stretches before I have to wash silver...

But hands down red looks the best IMO.

There is no way it left the factory with that sort of gap and they don't wiggle themselves out of alignment ...

I've looked the car over and see absolutely no paintwork anywhere, nor feel any (44k 1 owner car when I got it)- clean carfax always serviced by Lexus.
Is it possible that something was shut inside the trunk hard enough to bump the alignment off?

It's puzzling especially hearing about a few other people having alignment issues with this and other body panels. Again, I adjusted it myself and it's about 99% now. Shrug.

Anything that I look up has you and CJITTY in it and your posts are both informative and entertaining. I Do Appreciate them.

I'm new to Lexus and trying to learn as much about our car as I can (sat down last night and actually read 300 pages of the owner's manual...............who reads the owner's manual )

Thanks for that!
