I put this underneath and the OEM carpet on top (I do run weathertechs in the wintertime). These actually provide better footrest protection than the weathertechs because it goes up higher and your foot ends up resting on a different plane due to the thickness of the carpet. Really doesn't look too bad either esp with the OEM mats on top. I did have to cut some holes for the drivers side, tried to with the passenger but the design does not allow it. However, it fits pretty snug and has a frictioned underside so it doesn't slide around at all.
With my weathertechs, I was forced to use an addition piece of cardboard (yes looks as ghetto as you're picturing it) but it kept it clean and pretty much salt free. With these, I don't put any protectant over the footrest and it never gets dirty.
I believe there is a similar item on that website that also sells mats for the rear as well.
I've been trying to figure out a more permanent solution to this as well, one that looks half decent. That anti-slip carpet pad I used is still there and really dirty, so at least it's doing its job. I just like the factory mats too much.
I may try some of the suggestions posted earlier or just fabricate something else that at least looks decent.

I just learned that the F-sport has aluminum pedals (or pedal covers anyway). Could one fit these on a regular LS?
You can install the pedals, but the dead pedal unfortunately is part of the carpet in the F Sport. In order to get that metal dead pedal you would have to replace the whole carpet with one from an F Sport.

Honestly, with the black interior I don't see the need to cover the dead pedal. I get it with the parchment...but my dead pedal still looks new 18k miles in.

I am thinking brushed aluminum pedals would nicely complement the metal accent on the 2013+ dash and shifter.
Yeah my plan is to upgrade the pedals but just leave the dead pedal alone. The pedals I want though are the 16+ GS F Sport pedals:
Now that Sewell is gone I'm having a hard time finding them and verifying that they will fit on the LS.
Comparing the LS F-sport and and GS F-sport pedals, I also prefer the GS. It's more "sedate" and the slots flow more smoothly with the dash than the holes in the LS.
Can't the parts dept at the dealership help? Especially, a large dealership will have a GS-F on hand, and it will be a matter of measuring the dimensions of the various pedals. If I made this mod, I would probably get a local shop to fabricate the dead pedal plate and glue it on to the existing surface.
Yeah, the dead pedal and the way Lexus designed it with carpet just baffles me. I wish they would just placed a huge rubber piece there, instead of having carpet there.
That's the only part of the pedal equation that bothers me. Hopefully the next model addresses this.
For some reason the LS' dead pedal has always been that way with the carpet surround. Both my 98 LS400 and 04 LS430 were the exact same way. Other Lexus vehicles I've owned have had big plastic dead pedals.
All of my LS sedans have had black carpet so its not that big a deal...
I could ask the dealer parts guys. They're just all usually so stupid lol
I contacted my St Louis Lexus dealership about LSf and GSf pedal covers. They measured the GSf and they are the same size as LS pedals. So the GSf pedals could work but they could not guarantee it.
LSf or GSf pedals (brake and gas) ~$170 total
They estimated 2 hours labor for installation @ $150 per hour!!
I wonder if anyone knows how much work is involved. Obviously one wants this work done right for safety reasons.
The install is not a big deal at all, several people here have done it.
The shape and size of the pedal is the same, what concerns me is the base of the gas pedal where it connects to the floor. My guess is they're the same out of cost savings...
If you just buy the parts installing them isn't hard. There may even be a writeup here...
make sure they're 2016 GS F Sport pedals. The GS-F pedals are different (although also attractive), and prior to 2016 they're the "polka dot" pedals...
