Default CPO vs new car warranty

Is there any difference between a CPO warranty and the new car warranty? If I get a CPO car with warranty through 100,000 miles is that the same as a new car warranty for 100,000 miles or does it not include everything? For example, if a rattle develops in my dashboard at 90k miles, will they fix it under CPO warranty?

Rattles, trim and other parts that "wear" are typically not covered outside of 4/50. Upon purchase of a CPO, your best bet is to go over the car with fine toothed comb and have them fix everything before you purchase. Most cases they will during if you negotiate. Unless its obvious or a safety issue, Lexus won't spend money until the issue is raised by customer

No, It's not the same as a new car warranty. Door handle breaks - not covered. Seat stitching pulls apart - not covered. Non-safety TSBs (ie unless it's a NHTSA recall) - not covered. Pretty much anything mechanical or electrical is covered, though. Note that, technically, a part must "fail" before being covered/replaced under the CPD or any other Lexus extended warranty.

A CPO warranty just carries over to the new buyer. If the mileage is less than the 36,000 mile 4-year then everything is covered until it exceeds that warranty. It is then covered with the basic powertain warranty until it expires.

Let me clarify some of this about CPO's....if you buy a CPO car that is 5 years old and has 30000 miles on it you now get with the CPO complete bumper to bumper coverage for. Three more years up 100000 miles. The warranty can be extended to five years at time of purchase. Let's use my 06 es330 I bought the wife in 2009. I bought the extension out to five years for 1650 extra at time of purchase. The car when bought had 24000 miles on it. In effect I bought a car with a five year, 76000 mile warranty. The CPO covers everything that is not normal wear. For example let's say at 4 years and 94000 miles after your purchase date the sunroof motor quits...it's covered ect etc etc. same with mirror motors, telescoping steering etc. you also get roadside assistance, free loaner, and if your more than 200 miles from home and it needs overnight repairs they cover your lodging and food up to 200 dollars a day.

Another good example is right now at my local dealer is a 2008 es350 with 30000 miles on it. If I bought it with the extension it would be covered for 70000 more miles up to May of 2019. This is why I will never buy a new lexus only CPO cars. It's better than the factory warranty.

My personal example is this...my wife's car warranty was to run out April 15 2014. Four days before it expired the alternator went out. Right down to lexus get a loaner and it's fixed The other great point is the warranty is zero deductible and the car gets washed and cleaned for free. FYI the warranty is not directly from lexus but an outside company but who cares because lexus sold it and has to back it. The only way to buy a car. It's the best CPO plan out there.

To qualify as a LEXUS CPO CAR it must be six years old or newer with less than 70000 miles on it. It has to pass lexus standards to be eligible which includes no accidents, no dents, good tires and brakes. Why oh why. Would you buy anything else?

Here in south Florida the dealers have great cars coming in off lease or traded in with almost no wear and tear or high mileage. The rich people down here (me excluded) use them six months a year and leave them here for the summers. Lots of. Low mileage CPO cars. Saw today a 2011 es 350 with 8000 miles.

Sorry but no roadside assistance as my battery went dead and instead of coming out to give me a jump they wanted to tow the car in and if there was a problem that caused the battery to go dead then they would pay for the tow. I knew why the battery went dead because the detailer had just left and I'm sure he caused the problem unintentionally. I called the dealer's service mgr. and told them it was covered under the extended warranty as that is what I was told when I purchased it that it was the same as the new car warranty. He said that was wrong but would have someone come out and jump start the car and bring it in. It started right up and they found the battery was weak so they replaced it, but it took me to go through 2 different people to get this done before I got to the service mgr. They also said don't you have AAA and I said why when I have the extended warranty. I need to read the fine print next time and not listen to a service writer.
