Since installing mine yesterday, I can say this.....it is awesome. Couple pointers...

1) Get the ivic app from the Play Store
2) I put mine in the glovebox, but I also took out the glovebox to do it.
3) I ran my cables for the USB port, and the MHL under the shifter to alongside my seat.
4) I use a small power inverter in the center console to power my phone. I drilled a small hole in the plastic where the 12V power and AUX port are to get the power cable to my MHL so it has no wires running outside. It charges fast enough to power the phone.
5) Don't drop the screws for the nav or radio. They fall into a bottomless pit.
6) The blue video cable connects to the back of the nav, the rest to the radio.
7) Buy a small bluetooth mouse.

From what i see the ivic can work with any device with an hdmi cable and use a bluetooth mouse.
So you should be able to use a ipad/iphone/apple tv or just a windows computer.
I am going to see if I can get it working with windows 8.

The companies claims they wont have stock until october, but I just ordered a 6D yesterday from a 3rd party site but I dont know if they really have stock.

We shall see what happens.

It will mirror the iPhone, and others, but the iPhone needs to be jail broken to allow for a Bluetooth mouse, and something else I forgot. And there are issues with typing on an iPhone. Someone was working on it a while back. I have no idea about a Windows phone.

I am not going to use a windows phone.
I will actually buy a minipc and install win8 on it.

When I get an ivic, I will install it then test to see if I can get it work using my laptop running win8.
If that works I will then buy the mini pc.

If for some crazy reason it wont work with a PC then I will just use an android based device, but I dont see it not working. .

I would rather run a normal windows computer than an android or iphone.
