I'll be taking mine to the Lexus dealer to have it checked out, and it would be nice if I could simply tell them which TSB they need to run to resolve it.

Since it was fixed, have you had any recurrence of the noise when turning sharply in parking lots?

Thanks!

I don't have TSB# since work was done under previous owner name but I don't think you need more details. The dealer knew what the problem is before even seeing the car... Seems that it is an issue with all AWD cars... What they basically do is change the oil in the differential for a new formula called miracle fluid. They told me it is very expensive, $150 per quart...

I am 5 months, ~2K miles into using the car and problem never came back

I took my 2008 LS600hL to Lexus of Omaha yesterday to see if they could run the TSB to get rid of the low-speed turning shudder. They looked into it and found that this problem was covered by the Engine Warranty, which in my case had just expired (in April). Since I had just bought the car from them as a CPO, though, they called Lexus and received approval to cover the cost of the TSB under my CPO warranty. They confirmed the need to replace the Differential Oil with new high-dollar fluid (they actually had to order it in from Chicago). Not sure what it would have cost if Lexus hadn't agreed to cover it, but it sounded somewhat expensive.

For me, this was a bit of a wake-up call that the CPO warranty doesn't really cover everything that can be wrong with the car (although it worked out just fine this time). I knew going in that cosmetic issues weren't covered, but I would have thought a "shuddering drivetrain" would be covered automatically under the CPO warranty. Guess not. Hope there aren't other lingering issues like that which aren't covered...

I am glad it worked out for you! CPO is for failures only, not for TSBs/noises/etc. Your chance of Lexus covering TSBs is much higher when the car is CPO. It would have cost you ~$500+. They call this fluid the miracle fluid, ~$150 per quart...Enjoy!

I had a TSB related issue addressed recently but then again, it was due to a failure of said part so I think you are spot on. I think having that TSB really sealed the deal for CPO to cover it, but they still sent out the inspector to verify the condition.

Interesting! I wonder if my Lexus dealer plans to really follow the TSB and replace the fluid 3 times (driving 1 mile in between each change)? We'll see...

Got my car back from Lexus and the 'miracle' differential fluid change did the trick! No more drivetrain shudder while turning at low speed! I confirmed that the dealer did follow the TSB and drained and filled the fluid 3 times, with 1 mile of driving after each refill. Cool stuff! I hope it iis a permanent fix; I'd hate to have to pay for this treatment in a couple of years out of pocket!

Default Shuddering on take off

That's normal it's the electric motors kicking in . I drove a 600 for a week before I bought my 460 and hated it . Didn't feel like a prestige car and didn't get used to it either
That's why I bought the 460 ... Perfection in motion and smooth as silk .
Current model 2014 600 doesn't shudder so they obviously refined it
