Shibumi1, you the man, thanks... I'm not sure of firmware, I'll check with him and get back to you.

Wish I still lived in Homestead, FL. I would look you up now. I was working at Turkey Point Nuclear plant for a year in 2008. I live close to Wilmington, NC right now. Long way from Miami, FL.

I need to make a trip this summer to visit a friend in Fort Myers FL. I havent seen him and his family since 2008. I will get up with you a few weeks before I travel and see what your schedule looks like.

My Best Buy friend is about 28 yrs old and I guess I was asking too much out of him to tackle this job.

Shibumi1,

Is it true you can't use the factory remote to start car with DEI anymore? You have to use your cell phone with smart start?

For those of you like me who do not feel comfortable doing this install, I suggest you locate a Viper/DEI certified installer and let them do the install for you. I did this and they only charged me for 2.5 shop hours for installing the dball2 and smart start. The two local shops would not install the two units because I did not purchase from them. That was fine because they were not Viper or DEI authorized. I ended up driving 50 miles to a certified shop, but they were glad to put it in for me and guaranteed everything. They told me that they could not program the dball for three times start and tried to sale me the upgrade untill I told them that the unit had already been flashed. The guy was surprised that I knew and was able to talk the language (thanks to this site.)
Neat set up. I will subscribe to SmartStart Gps services in the next day or so.

They charged me 175 bucks for the install.

I agree whole heartedly... there's nothing like having a CERTIFIED VIPER INSTALLER... a product is only as good as the person the person that installs it..

Following up on my previous post. I subscribed to Smartstart GPS tracking, 3 years for $199. Much better than pushing your remote three times and having to wonder if your car got the signal.

Also can track your car location and speed it is being drive, which will come in handy when the 17 year old dries the LS600h L to the prom in a few weeks.

Neat upgrade and well worth the money in my opinion. If anyone has any questions, I answer what I can.

I've had it on my 07 F-250 Lariat Outlaw truck for over two years using my iphone. Really like it, use my phone almost always instead of my remote keyfob. I'll get Shibumi1 to install soon as I can.

Hello all,

Is the DBALL2 the only device I need to get?

https://www.directechs.com/Product.aspx?sku=DBALL2

I have a 2013 LS 460 and the wife has 2015 RX 350. And seems like this device will work on both of cars. I'm thinking of buying one and try it on one of the cars.

Thank you.

Yes that's the only part you need. just make sure it's been flashed with the proper firmware.

Shibumi1: Would it work with a 2013 LS460 F-Sport? I tried Bestbuy and they said it would. Then I bought the parts and when they program the module, a window popped up and said its not compatible with the Enform/Nav in my car. This was the idatalink module. Tried the DBall2 with my IS250 F-Sport and they did the install but couldn't program it to communicate with the car. They called DEI and DEI said there's an option in the ECU that the dealer needs to activate it so that it would communicate with remote start module. Called local Lexus service tech and he didn't know what the installer was talking about. So, it's a no go for remote start on both of my F-Sport.
