Default 2009 or 2010(and above) Model??

Hello Club Lexus members,

I used to own 2007 Lexus GS 350 for a few years and traded it in for a prius.(Don't ask me why)
Well, I traded in my GS because my ex job made me drive from LA to San Francisco/Bakersfield/Texas and etc. Now I got a different job that doesn't require lots of driving, but still a car that I am getting this time needs to be reliable(about 60miles per day) and has good amount of space. I was thinking about getting a CPO Mercedes Benz E class for myself but I've never had any issue with my GS, so I decided 99% to get LS460.
Here are some questions for LS owners and I hope I get your own experiences with your vehicle.
1) Does LS460 have any major problem(s)?
2) Major change between 2009 and 2010 model?(besides the facelift)
3) I heard the 2010 model has the air suspension(which I don't like it too much because I am planning to lower it a bit) and does it lower the car when it is parked?
4) Do you recommend 2009 or 2010?

I am planning to get a preowned LS460(either 2009 or 2010) within a month, so I need your advise.

Thanks for taking your time to read it!
P.S Please don't hate because this is my first posting lol.

Here are a few things off the top of my head:

1. The '07 and '08 models had the valve spring recall. Some of them had wind noise. I had an '08 SWB and there was very little wind noise - at least it did not bother me. I now have a 12 LWB and that is even quieter.
2. Earlier models had issues with the brake actuator - an expensive fix costing a little over $3K. I had it replaced on the '08 under warranty.
3. 07 - 09 had a better sounding ML system. It was changed for the 10 - 12 models and Lexus attenuates the bass as you turn up the volume.
4. Air suspension was available mainly on the LWB models from 07 - 12. I have it on my 12 LWB and I like it. People say that the air suspension is problematic. I have 15K miles on my car and no issues so far. It rides very well and is a little smoother than the one without air suspension.

Good luck with whatever you decide to buy. These cars are very well built and Lexus stands behind their product.

I had a 2009 LWB and drove 80,000 miles in 5 years. Never had one service issue. Had wind noise but the dealer fixed it. Went for scheduled service.

A big factor is the way the last owner took care of the car. If you buy from a person you can meet the person and tell if they took good care of the car by your gut. You can not do that if you buy from a dealer.

Everything you need to know is in the FAQ sticky on the main page of the LS460 forum.

If I had the choice between the 2009 and 2010 for just a little more I would get the 2010. From my research it would seem the newer model has addressed many of the past issues and therefore has no TSBs . Also the slight styling improvement updates the look of the car.

The primary reason why I purchased this car is for the quality and reliability in the long run. In order to do so I needed to choose a car without AWD and air suspension as these can be problematic and expensive down the road. I think a warranty is important for the first few years of ownership for any initial manufacturer defect that will show early. After that a well built car should stand on it's own merit with minimal problems.

Absolutely true. but then most of pre-owned cars on the websites I go on are sold by dealers.

Your answer of my number '4' question, helped making my mind to go with 2010+ model. I thought regular model(not 460L) also comes with the air suspension as standard. Thanks!!

It makes sense. After my research, I am leaning towards to 2010+ model. Thanks for your advise!
