Default strap caught in trunk locking mechanism

Using the button I closed the trunk of my 08 Lexus LS460 and the strap of my workout bag got caught in it as it tried to close. The locking mechanism closed around the strap but the trunk stayed open. Now the trunk lid is open with the lock mechanism completely closed hard on the strap with the bag hanging from the trunk lid when I pull the trunk open. Seems the car thinks the trunk is closed. as no "trunk open" warning lights come on. I need to get the trunk to release the bag. None of the buttons seems to do anything. The emergency manual lever on the inside of the trunk compartment does nothing, and the manual insertion of the key does nothing. I could probably cut out the strap but its my favorite bag and I'm not sure if that would get me anywhere anyway. Thanks for any help.

Hope I posted this appropriately.

Try this -

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...procedure.html

Also if you do a search, you will find other solutions.

You can also try disconnecting the battery.

Also try turning the key and pulling down on the bag at the same time. The strap is probably wedged inside the locking mechanism.

Hey guess what? I disconnected the battery then yanked out the strap then reconnected the battery and the buttons started working!
Thanks so much for your help.
