I need to replace front struts on my 2008 as well, were you able to change it? if so then do you have any type of instructions.

Removing caliper, rotor, brake cover is NOT necessary at all.
The only thing that is bothering the **** out of me is that the fender gap is ugly. Either its because the rear struts are old and has over 100K on them, or it the lower insulators have an issue.
Anybody experience this problem? If so, what was your fix?

Once I figured out that the you disconnect the lower arm (at chassis) it was straight forward. Keep in mind you will be using temporary support to hold up the arm until you have everything disassembled. If you have another jack, that will do the job! Also, you will be disconnecting the stabilizer link.
