Did you use a vehicle inspection service? If so, what was you experience like? I'm finally really in the market for a 2010 460L and willing to travel to purchase it but a lil concerned about making a purchase like that without it being looked over.

Default Carchex

I bought my '11 LS460 out of state and relied on a report from www.carchex.com and was very satisfied. Their report was detailed and reasonably priced. I am sure to some degree it depends on the independent mechanic they contract with, but I was very happy.

Good luck!

Thanks. I preferably want a CPO but just incase I find a deal I cannot pass up I would feel a lot better if it were inspected.

Be warned. Just because the car is listed and being sold as CPO does not mean it will be in good shape. I made a deal on a CPO SC430 that looked great in the pictures. I drove 300 miles to pick it up and the paint was terrible. It also had wind noise due to torn window run, full of paint chips, bad swirl marks, acid rain etching on al the flat surfaces of the paint and both front and rear bumper covers were scraped. We walked away from that one.

I also walked away from a local 2009 CPO LS460 that was real rough. Drivers seat leather had what appeared to be chewing gum embedded stain, brakes made horrible sounds, shift lever had leather worn off, scrapes on the dash board and cracked tail light.

The CPO LS460 I finally bought had very noisy Goodyear tires. I insisted they replace them with new Michelins. It also had steering wheel shakes when brakes were applied. They repaired that before I signed .

The CPO SC430 I bought had new non-run flat tires but no spare tire kit. I called Lexus Customer support and they arranged to have dealer send e a $900 spare tire kit.

Mine was a CPO but I still had the 3rd party inspection done. I don't regret it. It made me insist on a couple of additional points with the dealer. FYI - The biggest headache for me buying out of state was arranging for shipping. Don't expect a lot of assistance from the dealer (even if they say otherwise).

Yea, I think I would have a 3rd party inspection done regardless of CPO just to be safe. I'm hoping to find something close enough out of state to be able to drive it home.

I see you have a CT, so in case your not aware of run-flat tires I'll explain.

SC430, not SC300 spare tire kit.
Link here; http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accesso...-2008-310.html

Since most SC430s came with run flat tires and no spare, if you install normal, non-run flat tires you would be out of luck if you picked up a nail and got a flat.

The original run flat tires have extremely hard sidewalks so they stay round with no air pressure. Being that the sidewalks are hard they create a rough, jarring ride. Most of us have ditched the run flats and install normal tires, which improve ride characteristics 10x.
