Tom Brady has a new car, and talk about sticker shock, the brand spankin’ new Lexus LS 600h that was just delivered to Tommy’s Back Bay abode comes with a price tag somewhere in the neighborhood of $135,000!!!
Whoa, that’s some neighborhood!
The loaded luxury vehicle is a shiny black hybrid that boasts a 5-liter, V-8 engine with two powerful electric motors and a large-capacity battery pack in the trunk. It can fly from zero to 60 mph in just 5.5 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph. And because Tommy and the missus, Gisele Bundchen, are tree huggers, it is certified as a Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle II.
However, we feel the need to point out that the car gets only 20 miles per gallon in the city, which seems not so great for a hybrid.
Other lux touches include high-quality leather and “Shimamoku-striped wood,” which, Lexus says, “is created through the painstaking layering of angle-cut dark and light shaded wood veneers in a unique process which involves 67 manufacturing steps over the course of 38 days.” Which no car should be without ...
And then there’s the Executive-Class Seating Package “designed to absolutely coddle the rear seat passengers.” That would be sons Jack and Benjamin and baby Vivan, we suppose. It boasts, Lexus says, “a multifunction massager, a DVD entertainment system with dual nine-inch screens and wireless headphones, four-zone automatic climate control, a rear-seat wood-trimmed table and a rear-seat cool box for storing beverages (preferably champagne).”
Won’t they look like a boss in that setup!
Tommy, as you may remember, used to drive luxury Audis, but he didn’t exactly have a good experience. There was all that controversy over Audi giving him a car in return for his volunteer duties for Best Buddies. (“So much better than a T-shirt,” sniped one critic.) And then there was the car crash on Comm. Ave. where his Audi was smooshed by a minivan that ran a red light.
