Default Buy a new GS350 or pre-owned LS460?

I think it's time to try a new car. I'm currently driving an 05 Acura RL.

The new Lexus LS460 2013 is extremely sexy, but I'd be paranoid about my car if I paid close to $100k after tax.

I'm probably looking to spend $50kish (+ or -).

So I'm looking to buy an used 2010+ LS460 or the new 2013 GS350.

There are some really good deals on the LS460. A local seller is offering me a 2010 LS460 Sport with 40k miles for $38k. (I need to check this out first to see the condition)

Love the rl's me personally would jump on that 2010 460 depending on the color combo and package. Depending on whats your driving style is 460 aint no slouch but sportiness would lean towards the 4th gen gs but im sure a nicely equipped gs will be more than the asking price of the 460 plus the dealer might be leanning to go lower, test drive the 460 and listen for common problems discussed in the threads, wind noise etc and look up service history. But besides lexus there other cars to look at but lexus reliability is whats attractive.

Why do you consider the used LS460s particularly "good deals?" There are many great cars in the $50k +/- category. CPO LS460s are only one of them. New GS350s are another. Even Acura has some offerings in this range. You should determine what you want in a new (to you) car, then find used/new that satisfies that need and fits your price range. Not hard, but time-consuming and not really doable online...

Thanks guys, I'm just into a luxurious ride and image. Quiet and more comfortable the ride, that's the car for me.

Yes, I'm definitely in it for a deal. For $40k, I can enjoy a $70k car

I felt good when my peers bought a new Acura TL for $40k when I had a year older RL for $35k.

Then a used LS is the choice for you.

No, for $40k you get a $40k car. If you want the $70k car, you have to pay...you probably already know the answer.

If you like luxe, great. You'll love the CPO LS; if you're more into performance, the new GS is nice (I have and have had both). But what you will NEVER get is a $70k car for $40k; free markets just don't work like that. There is no need to tiptoe through the Lexus dealership like you're in some kind of temple. They're just cars, and even the mighty LS460 eventually goes to the shredder.

I like buying cars that are 2-3 years old with low milage, it's the best bang for the buck...go for the LS!

Kenji, I know what you mean when you say you are buying a $70k car for $40k. You know it is worth $40k, but when it was new it sold for $70k.

Based on your statement about wanting "a luxurious ride and image", get the LS.

I would go with the LS. The GS will have first year issues as ALL cars do. The LS in 2010 has had pretty much all the bugs sorted out so it will be a nicer car with less issues. I would get the LS

for me personally id go with the LS all day long. I feel its a way more executive car just way more my style. But on the other hand, the 4GS is pretty freakin' sweet too... but id still go for the LS but both are great choices in my books. Let us know what you decide on.

Since you stated this I suggest going with the LS (not knocking the GS by no means) but the LS will definetely give you the image that you are seeking well above the GS

i would get the new GS.. i have sat on both and the new GS has that nice german looking interior that the older ls only wishes to have. The LS still has that outdated looking interior. I had a 2002 es with the wood trim inside and it was very nice and i feel the ls is just a bigger LS on the inside. I am not talking about the performance by any means.
The Gs interior would KILL the old 460 interior. It has that BMW looking leather and interior panels. Plus, you wont have to worry about it running out of warranty soon. You would be covered the entire time you are making payments on it.

Get the LS sport 2010-2012 CPO...
That's the dilemma I had last year. Got 2011 LS Sport CPO...
Was not considering any other ( stll have my 1999 GS 400 / over 280 K on odo & drives like new)

460 all the way..ride quality and interior space alone has my vote..everything else is gravy on the fried chicken

Then he might as well get a BMW.

He's kinda like me. I need that big smooth, quiet, boss-car although i did consider the new GS as my next ride but i think ima stay in LS family and do the 2010+ 460 next year after i give my moms my 430.
