Well, even under Ford control, Jags were a hit-and-miss. Some came out right and never had pesky electrical problems. Others were always in the shop. But almost all of them (under Ford) had transmission problems at some point, related to retainers/seals that would not last.

The redesigned 2011 models had their own share of ridiculous problems (roof pops, shaky idle, etc) that seem to have been sorted out on 2012/2013 models. But they did something stupid, for 2013 they swapped their near-perfect 6 speed transmission for this new 8 speed that is nowhere near as good as the 6 speed. I only know all this because I've been contemplating getting a Jag for a while, but all those issues and changes give me pause, even more so because I have had literally zero problems with my '07 LS since new and I'm really used to this worry-free ownership experience
