i bought a 6k 9006 kit for the foglights on my ls 460. i really want to make a close as lossible match. should the 6k fog kit be fine or should i lower the k for the fogs or keep the 6k fogs and upgrade the low beams ? any help is greatly appreciated, i am doing this tomorrow! so hopefully ill get an answer before i start. thanks guys or gals. p.s im a new owner of a 2008 ls460, traded in my 08 is 250

1st off congrats on getting an LS, post up pics when you can. I'm not sure what the difference is of a fog kit to a regular hid kit, but as long as the advertised color is 6k, it should be the same, (if not pretty close), to the headlight color. Since the stocks are headlights are 4300k, and I didn't want to change the headlight bulbs and do an hid kit for the fogs, I got some 4200k bulbs from autozone to last me for now. They are a bit more yellowish up close compared to the stock headlights, but look much better than the stock fogs from about 10+ feet. If you are doing the install yourself and know a thing or two about wiring, Shibumi1 has a nice DIY to do independent fogs.

From my experience the fog housing seems to create a slightly more white effect using the same color temp bulbs. I had 4300k philips hid bulbs in my fogs and they looked whiter than my stock 4300 headlights. I would go 5000k headlights and 4300k fogs for a great color match. I now use 3000k hid fogs for that nice yellow light

i changed the stock fog light bulb to a 6k HID kit, im not happy at all. first off threy flicker, so i added a anti flicker cable, guess what? still have the flicker. i am thinking about just changing the bulb to a phillips 5k super white bulb, or something like that.

Are you sure its from the bulb? Might be the hid kit itself.

You know I realized real fast that HID bulbs in my factory fog lamps in my other cars were useless in the fog! Haha Especially when I needed them the most. Driving back from Sacramento to the bay area in the dead of night with thick fog... I thought my fog lights would help. It actually threw up more glare then without them on. Just my experience. I do like the look of the 3000k yellow light. I may do a halogen bulb that will give me a similar color.

The same effect happened with my Acura TL..its all about the optics of the lens in my opinion..and I used different bulbs..different kit..happened to others I know too

im gonna try to get a 5k HID kit and hardwire it in to a relay, not the plug and play method, we will see what happens. i just dont want to keep trying 10 different kits, just to get it right on.

i have upgraded the 4300k main HID headlamps to 6k, looks much better, i plan on ordering a 5k HID kit for the fogs, does anyone know if i can simply add an HID kit to the high beams?, they are 9005, or do i have to get a DRL set from vleds. i tried the 9005 HID set for the high beams, and it seems to work untill i shut off the lights and then they flicker for a few secs. i even have the capcitors in line. my guess is a DRL kit w/decodersi

Hid kit for high beams is not a great idea..when turned on it takes 15 seconds or so for the ballasts to get the lights to full wattage and brightness (warm up stage)...unless they will be on all the time, the hid kit will not like being turned on and off quickly and often...aftermarket hid kits especially like consistent power. I would advise against it

so what do you suggust i do? should i just install a vled kit? like i had on my IS , that looked great. does the LS have day time running lights like the IS, . is the 9005 high beam also used as a DRL light, if so ill order a DRL kit from vleds. thanks for the help!

The high beam is also the LS DRL at lower wattage. The VLED would be a nice touch..my fogs are independent of my lights so I had my DRLs disabled and use the yellow fogs as DRL sometimes

thanks! just ordered the 6k kit from vled, i changed my main lamps from stock to 6k, and im ordering a 5k kit for the fogs, i tried the 6k kit for fogs and it was to different from the main lights,so i think a 5k kit will be fine.
