Default Battery Drain

Hello Everyone:

Did we ever come up with the answer for the battery drain. Was it the door/headlight auto off switch that needs to be replaced. My battery died on me late one night in downtown Houston. I jumped it off to get home. The next day the battery cables were corroided so they were cleaned.
I took the car to Auto Zone, let them check out the battery, but they told me the battery was OK but was only 85% charged. So this was some 3-4 weeks ago. Got up this morning and the car barely started. I just said it was time for a new battery . It had the orginal from Lexus(2007) so a new one was needed. Put in a new battery today but has anyone ever answered the battery drain question. Thanks

jarm

Its the door switch.

They're under 20 bucks. I just ordered one for my LS460L. One bolt, one plug.

Great advice. Read this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...rning-off.html

A good test to verify that this is the problem is to always use your wireless remote key to lock your car and extinguish the lights, by pushing the lock button twice is short succession, every time you exit the car. If the door switch is causing a problem then the doors will lock but the lights will not extinguish. This can be an intermittent condition so one trial may be insufficient to catch the problem.

I hope that everyone who experiences a bad door switch will enter a complaint at the SaferCar site: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/7598136-post6.html

I will look at mine as well. I just had my battery die after 17 months . Left me in a parking lot and ten patients in the waiting room had to be rescheduled. We were all pissed. The crappy thing is that I noticed the car turn over slightly slower than normal and I scheduled an appointment for service the same morning it left me in the parking lot. Embarrassing and frustrating to say the least

I saw the history on my car when I got it, seems like it uses a battery every 18 mos to 2 years.

The stuck door switch only causes the battery to drain when the exterior lights are on when the ignition is turned off. Cars that are operated in the "Auto Headlights" mode but only driven in daylight or those that are always parked in well lighted garages or parking lots will not likely intercept the conditions for draining the battery. Please note that the "Auto Headlights" has nothing to do with turning the headlights off after the ignition is turned off - that is done with the headlights auto-off which is autonomous and works with all exterior lights-on conditions and is defeated by the stuck door switch. One of the safety conditions that I am concerned about is the one that warns you when you are leaving the car with the engine running - a stuck door switch defeats that warning, so please follow through with a complaint to the NHTSA.
