LS460 cost of maintenance per mile & total cost of ownership
I keep pretty detailed records of my LS460 related expenses, and here's a small analysis of my expenditure. Can you guys post your rough numbers so I can have something to compare with?
Duration: 40 months
Mileage: 80,000 miles
Total expenditure: $8,800
Cost of maintenance per mile: ~13.5c
Cost of maintenance per month: $220
I do my maintenance outside the dealership. I follow the maintenance manual. I included every $ spent on the car except gas (oil changes, filters, headlight bulbs, semi-annual detailing, tires, arms, bushings, ...etc). No accidents. No body mods have been made. Engine oil is pretty damn expensive where I live (used to be $16 a 1L but now it's $24 a 1L bottle).
I got a rough estimate of how much my car is worth where I live, and I was told it's worth around $30,000. Thus the total cost of ownership (minus gas) is around $32,800 or $820/month. I bought my car for $54K 40 months & 65,000 miles ago.
The numbers look pretty good to me. I wonder what numbers I'd see if I had a bimmer or a mercedes.

I think my costs are way lower than yours, granted I have just 34K miles on my car that I purchased new. I only spend about $130-$160 at each oil change. This car has been by far the best I ever had when it comes to cost of ownership. I had ZERO issues with this car since new, just had the normal recalls and usual oil changes done.

Low cost here as well. Was paying 120 for oil changes about every 5 months and only took it in for the needed services which was just at 60K which was 425. But now my oil changes are just under 50 since Im doing my own. Ordered a 6 pack of filter for 30 bucks and buy the oil in the 2-5qt jugs. Besides that, no issues that the warranty didnt cover.

WoW, just checked out those numbers on that site and they're astonishing. Not surprising though. Fortunately my car was purchased out right and there's no financing and taxes after the first year. That being the case, I was able to negotiate the price to what I wanted it to be along with other perks. Guess I was lucky.
