Looking to buy a LS460L
Im looking into a 2008 or 2009 Lexus LS460L.
Are there any common problems with this car or the years im looking into?
The executive option looks pretty interesting but I had a LS430 UL and that had some issues that I would like to avoid IE: the Air Suspension.
Thanks everyone

From the driving perspective, some people seem to prefer the standard suspension to the air suspension.. Its a personal preference. I find either one to be just fine. The LS is not exactly a "drivers car" - such as the European sedans - the S, the 7, the A8 etc..
The two common problem I know of are: 1. Wind noise from drivers side - I don't really find it to be an issue. I am not even sure that my cars have it. I think my 2007 had it.. A sure to encounter problem seems to be the Mark Levinson amp. It is sure to blow.. The good news is, once replaced, they don't blow again. I think I had amps in both my cars replaced. It is about $1000 and it is a known problem. Other than that, I can't think of any problem for the LS. They have been very reliable.
I feel that the LS 600 HL is the best value, in the use market.. as compared to the LS 460. You get a much bigger bang for your buck..

If at all possible get a car that is still under factory warranty so that you can purchase an extended warranty from Lexus. There's lots of things that can go wrong. For under $2K (depending on time frame and miles) you get peace of mind.

The air suspension is less of an issue in the LS460. I owned a 2007 LS460 with Air and now own a 2008 LS 600 with Air suspension. I have had no problems. Did you have a repair issue with the air suspension? Another friend of mine, owns a 2001 LS 430 ultra but has never had air suspension problems.

Ive had 2 LS430s and I like the none air ride better.
I like the ride to be as quite and as muted as possible. I dont like the rough ride of the benz myself. I would rather leave that ofr a sports car.
Ill will look into the 600s as well.

i would get a 2010 if you can afford the difference in price. the 07-09 model years were a mess IMO - lots of TSBs and issues with the engine, etc. Defintely follow the advice of other posters here and buy it CPO or at least under original factory warranty so you can purchase the extended warranty yourself. The repairs are too expensive when things go out.

Technical service bulletins.
Just wait until January for the 2010 model to depreciate further. They will be another model year older then and no one is buying after the holidays.
