Default Extended Warrenty (8 yrs - 100,000 miles)

I wrote a check for a new 2013 LS 460 yesterday. It is in transit to the dealership. What do you guys think about the extended Warrenty (8 yrs 100,000 miles) ? They were trying to sell it to me because of all the electronics computer parts=$3,500.I plan on keeping the LS 8 to 10 and put less than 100,000 miles.Would you guys buy it?
Thanks,
Kuhn

I would buy it, but not from the dealer. Price it with these people first. They sell the same warranty for less $

I paid $2500 at Inskip in RI. Go on line you can get it for as little as $2100. I wish I researched it more

FIRST, you can buy this warranty any time, as long as you are still within your factory 4 yr / 50,000 coverage.

I would like to vouch for Jerry Johnson as well. Class act and honest guy. Be aware if you are a LS600h L owner, this vehicle is considered Level 4 and costs more. The LS460 is in the Level 3 class so the pricing above will apply to that.

For my LS600, I bought the 8yr/75K Platinum for $2055.

I added two years and another 25K miles to my CPO warranty when I bought my 600hL. I mean, one of my headlights costs 2x more than the warranty lol..so I'm covered until 2017 for my 2008 600hL that I bought in Aug. The CPO has already paid for $1100 in new parts (mirror assembly, radar cruise brake switch) so to me, shop around for warranty as suggested above..I think it is good if you plan to keep the car. These LS's are built well, I have had two LS's now..but seemingly minor issues are expensive and that piece of mind is nice to have

Do I have to have purchased my Lexus new or CPO to get the factory extended warranty?

Or can I buy a car from a non-Lexus used car shop that is under factory warranty, and get this Factory extended warranty added on before the warranty expires?

As long as the car is within the original 4 year/50k mile original factory warranty, you can buy a Lexus factory extended warranty. It doesn't matter where you buy the car from.

As for the OP, as suggested by FLYCT, since you can buy the extended warranty anytime under the factory warranty period, I usually wait until a couple days before the original warranty expires before I buy the extended warranty. I would rather have that money in the bank.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but headlights are considered normal wear items and thus are not covered.

The bulbs are normal wear items. If you have issues with the auto leveling or you have ballast issues the extended warranty will cover it. My Toyota Avalon with the same extended warranty had to have both headlamp assemblies replaced. They were $2,500 each, covered by the Platinum extended warranty, zero out of my pocket.

The telescopic stealing column on the Avalon was unlocking and it was replaced under the same warranty. $1,200 parts plus 3 hours labor. It didn't cost me a dime.

You are correct. A few months ago i bought a 2 owner SC430 that had 1 month left on the factory warranty. I bought an 8 yr / 100,000 mile lexus warranty from Jerry at Mid West 5 days before the factory 4/50 expired. He needed a copy of the bill of sale which had mileage on it to prove it had less than 50k miles. He pulled up the original date in service via his system.
