Default Should I buy a 430 or 460??

I am going to buy a used LS and can get an 06 430 for ~$23k with 70k miles or a 07/08 460 with same miles for $35k. Is it worth spending another $12k on the new body style? I used to own a 430 and they are built like rocks - seems like there are more problems with the 460 model??

That's a no brainer. Get the 460. The old body style is way too dated. I'm sure you can find one with less miles than that. I have an 08 with 42,000 miles. Keep looking.

I wouldn't get a 2007 LS 460, but 2008 or later would be fine. The powertrain and transmission is what your really paying for vs the LS 430. I've had a 430 and test drove a 460 -- no comparison to the experience -- the 460 rocks.
If there's no wind noise and the TSiB's have been done on the 460 you're considering, AND you like the style and power of the 460, you'll probably be much happier with the newer car. Powertrain is manufacturer warrantied for 6yrs/100k miles. Just my opinion.

is that even a question???? go test drive a 460 then tell us your opinions. new styles will always lead to a few quirks, but at the end of the day its what u think will fit you.

Personally I would go with an 07 (mine has been flawless, including the wind noise issue some have had) or 08 model. As OSU said, keep looking, you should be able to find one with less miles. Just make sure any recalls (fuel rail, idler pulley, valves) have been performed.

LS460 all the way - my family also has a 430 and the upgrades do not compare. Some features I miss but overall you can't go wrong with the 460

I love my 460 but I keep hearing that the 430 is better built. The 460 has more power, features, and is more economical but the 430 is known for its solid engineering and build quality

Nothing wrong with the 2007..minus the USB port, I had all the TSBs fixed to make it more like a 2008 including double pane lamisafe front door windows! Thanks to Club Lexus, Iearned how to get about $5k worth of parts and labor for free haha..just sold my 2007 LS460 above retail book..now onto my LWB with all options..this will be a journey I'm sure

I had every single TSIB done to my 07 as well. Good luck with the search bro. I admire the fact that you know exactly what you want and you go for it. Good luck !

Yeah my 07 is flawless. All the TSIBs have been done. And yes LWB all day long.

I would get a 460 in a heart beat but to each it own. I too think that a modified 430 is sick as well. That's another option...look for a 430 that is modded already with low miles for a decent price.

I owned them both and yes the 430 is built very well maybe their best LS from a build quality standpoint, it is pretty much bulletproof far ownership relliabilty, last the 430 is has timeless body style yet it is dated compared to what we see on the road today and to the 460. Both cars are two different animals when it comes to performance and everyday driving my vote is for the 460!

I have over 130K on the clock on my 460, it has been flawless, a pleasure to own and drive! When I took the car in for its last oil change in April, I had Lexus do a bumper to bumper inspection, she came back with a clean bill of health. I thought the 430 was low maintenance to maintain but the 460 maintenance upkeep makes the 430 look high compared between the two.

BTW I may have an 07 but you would be amazed how many people ask me what year is it or think its a new car, I doubt if I still owned the 430 I would get the same reaction.

If you get the 460, get the longer wheelbase. Those things are massive!

Is the LS460 really that big of an improvement over the LS430?

I don't understand the allure of the LWB -- how often do you get to drive from the back seat?
