LS460 - and all Lexus - Spark Plug Change Intervals
Below is the Lexus' Factory-Recommended Spark Plug Change Intervals;
ALL LS460 - Every 60K miles
Every 60K Miles for the following models: LS460, All IS, and ALL GS
Every 120K miles for the following models: ALL RX, GX, LX, ES and the LS430.
(Forgot to ask about the LS400).
An ELITE DEALER in middle Georgia ...... Sales Tax @ 7%, prices a spark plug change at APPROX $360 out the door, including clean up and taxes. This price does NOT include any other required/recommended 60K mile services.
I did ask the"Why' question as to WHY such a "short" change interval, since "most" cars today go 100K between spark plug changes. No one really knows for sure.
I sincerely hope this helps someone. And wishing everyone a Bright, Happy and Enjoyable upcoming weekend. Too windy here for fishing, sadly - -

Non-Dealer Spark Plug Replacement
This entire thread was started because a member here was concerned about the Dealer cost estimate for replacing spark plugs. He was quoted $ 450.00 for this. We have no idea if this cost estimate covered all of the 60K service items or not.
Nevertheless ..... I asked my Automotive Shop today about this. This answer below is based on computer-based labor time factors. The cost SHOULD BE - for spark plug replacement - using quality irridium plugs (DENSO Part # 3453 {#FKB20H} Iridium Long Life Plug) APPROX. $ 190.00 or possibly a less. (This estimate assumes spark plug cost @ $15 ea + 8% Sales tax).
I hope this helps someone make a wise choice when they need this service.
PS - Of course ....... LOL ! ...... For this price ya don't git a car wash nor do they offer to walk your doggie for you.

Just to shine some light as to why some models are required at 60K as opposed to 120K miles. It is required under federal emissions warranty to replace them at 60K.
Note the models that use GR or UR engines included in the 60K mile interval all use direct injection fuel systems alone or in combination with port injection. The byproduct of direct injection with US fuels is carbon buildup. This fouls the plugs much more quickly and shortens their life, even with iridium plugs.
Vehicles with 120K mile intervals use iridium plugs with port injection only. No problem with these plugs lasting 120K.
As to why the 07 LS says 120K while 08+ are 60K is beyond me. It's the exact same engine. I'd have to guess sometime during 07 production the "required under federal emissions warranty" came into play...

Hey Tony, thanks Man!
And here I was thinking it was something diabolical like getting the owners into the dealership more often.
As an aside, I noticed you joined 6 years ago and you have 3 posts. Just so you know, we don't charge you by the post, so feel free to contribute as much as you'd like!

Just to answer your question, I can't remember my source, but I did find this which supports the 120K situation
2007 LS460 @ 60K miles, no mention of spark plugs
http://www.edmunds.com/car-maintenan...&mileage=60000
2007 LS460 @ 120K miles, call for spark plug replacement

Spark Plug Change Interval
I own a 2012 LS460 AWD and the spark plug change is only recommended at 12 years or 120,000 miles. I double checked this, so I do not know where the 60,000 miles comes from. I will most likely change mine before that time. The 60,000 miles interval only states oil/filter change, cabin filter change, and rotate tires, and change battery in smart key.
