No. Engine was untouched. Once you pop those rings out there is ample space to get a socket extension (all be it with a universal joint) down the spark plug shaft.

Default 2012 LS460 Plugs @ 75,000 miles

I change the original plugs on my 2012 LS460 at 75,000 miles. They all looked good; probably could have waited another 25k without any problem. There was one odd thing. The gaps were 1 @ 0.31", 6 @ 0.39" and 1 @ 0.41". The specified gag is 0.043". Normally as spark plugs wear the gap increases not decreases. My local mechanic replaced the plugs so I did not get an opportunity to check the gap on the new Denso FK20HBR11 plugs. Has anyone confirmed the gap on new plugs?

I was quoted this too today from Lexus of Sacramento. Turned out to be too good to be true. My mechanic quoted me $385, so I wondered how Lexus could undercut his price. Turns out there was a mistake in their system, $375 is for the labor alone. ($150/hr, total of 2.50 hours). The iridium long-life plugs are $18/each...not sure what the benefit of long-life is if the manual has you swap them out every 60K. Anyways, our local dealership's true price is $528 for parts, labor, tax on parts.

Well, whatever the gap is, it is. They say not to adjust the gap on iridium plugs as the electrodes are very brittle and may break if you try.

Spark plugs last, compared to days of old, effectively forever.

My wife's '02 RX300 is on the original plugs, 144K miles, IIRC. My old STS was on the OEM plugs at 143K miles. My LS is on the OEM plugs. Hell, even the Jeep 5.9L ZJ was on its original plugs/wires/cap/rotor at 162K miles.

Granted, the ZJ wasn't smooth, but I did drive it back to Fort Worth from Missouri with plugs worn to more than a tenth of an inch gap. Also, the fact I replaced both a cap and rotor indicates just how advanced the ignition system is.

I got 8 of the NGK's on Amazon and had a local independent mechanic do it for $100 labor, he completed it in just over an hour. Wasn't complicated, and I'd recommend exploring that route.

Default No need to change LS460 spark plugs until at least 100k !!!

NO NEED to change them until at least 100k miles interval. I have just changed them for my 2007 LS460 after 65k miles and they look so good, probably good for at least another 50k miles !!! do not listen to Lexus manual and waste your time and money ... I regreted....should have waited.

The P/O of my 2013 had the plugs done at 60K per the service schedule. Barring anything that pops up that indicates a problem, I'll do them again at 160K. Maybe even 180K.

Had my dealer do it when the car was in for the valve spring recall last month.

I could of got it for free (because they sent me a text stating its free and no charge) , but I ended up just paying for the plugs, about $200 cad ($150 usd) all in

Slightly better gas mileage, car seems to have a little more pep , not sure if its the springs or the plugs but im happy they are both taken care of

My Jan 2007 build LS460 came with a spark plug change at 100,000 miles (it was right there on the owners maintenance manual). Very shortly thereafter, Lexus changed the interval to 60,000 miles "to maintain the emissions warranty" (whatever that means).

Popping ‘O’ rings out & then reseating seems
to me an invitation for leaks. Your thoughts?

As this was bumped. I was looking over the history on my 2014, The spark plugs were changed originally in the 60K service. Lexus said starting asking around 120K to change the plugs, and the past owner turned it down, a few times, so now at 136K, I think summer/late spring (when the wife does not give me 50K projects) I will change out the plugs.

With the worry of fake/counterfeit plugs everywhere, I think I will order my plugs from the Lexus dealer (there is a few that sell directly on eBay), it's about $115 for all 8 plugs from Lexus...

Default To make the DIY'ers feel better...

I called Lexus of Route 10 in northern NJ for a quote to change out spark plugs on our 2009 AWD LS460...$1,159 plus tax!

And my local mechanic is charging $595+tax, not sure if this is inflation or I have a 'scam this guy' sound in my voice, but nothing is cheap on this car.
