Default Low Key Battery

I am getting a dashboard message that the battery in my key is low. Is this a DIY job? I would think so. HELP!

Wow I did replacement of key battery in Mercedes and BMW without any tools. Why Lexus couldn't just steal the idea.

Shibumi: I did our 2 'fobs' in maybe 18 secs each. Could not have been any easier or faster. Oh ! And all I did was sumptin' really dumb ! ==> I got the Owners Manual out and read wut it had to say. It could have not been clearer nor easier.

And ta think, Lexus spent ALL of the time & money ( $$$) puttin' this important information in an easy to read format, and then bound it in Leather for us. Amazin', ain't it ?

Best Wishes to all ! - Mikey Lulejian -Lake Oconee, GA

What about the "credit card" key? Did any of you ever replace the battery in that one? I always carry 2 keys with me just in case of one failing - I'm still learning to trust electronic equipement (I don't think I ever will 100%)

I have. Its a little more difficult IMO, because you have to pry the metal cover off, but still very do-able. Don't worry, if the battery runs out, you can use the metal key that slots in it to open the door, and just touch the card to the ignition switch to start the car (same procedure as the key fob).

I admit I was a little skeptical at first, mostly since my pocket was so empty. But now, I always feel weighed down when I drive another car with a key fob.

Isn't credit card key optional? I do not have it, although it was provided for ES. I do not know why it is optional for LS

Yes, it's optional and you can order it from your Lexus dealer...

It wasn't standard with my LS 460 back in 2007 or with my 2010 GX 460 Premium...

Not my 2007 460L either, but I thought it did come standard on 600hL and IS-F.

It comes standard on the 450H except for the base model as well. Its awsome to have. As long as I have my wallet I am good to go. No keys to carry around. I also have Smart Start so I can use my phone to unlock/ Lock and open tailgate. The factory remotes and the ones that came with the remote starter sit in a drawer in the kitchen.

For your 2011 LS 460, did you also get 2 electronic keys, total of 3 keys as standard?
