Default New Tire Recommendations?

OK, 2010 LS 460L RWD w/AVS. Stock wheels. Need new tires. 95% of my driving is 75mph on SoCal freeways, so the most important thing to me is smooth and quiet.

What do you guys reccomend?

I just had 4 Michelin Energy A/S installed on my LS 460. Nice quiet smooth ride. Much better than the Dunlop tires that came from the factory. 55,000 treadwear warranty from Michelin...

how about Hankook V4 245/18 ?

I replaced stock dunlop 235/18 to v4 and I think I'm getting more traction on wet/snow.
cheaper, smoother,quiter....
handling? probably not better.. due to soft tire wall....

Bridgestone Turanza with Serenity. Highest mileage, quietest tire out there that won't 'drift' to the right

I've been reading most of the posts on tires for the LS460 and came down to these 3 tires:

Bridgestone Turanza with Serenity
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus
Continental ExtremeContact DWS

Of the three, the Bridgestone is the only one where no one has reported having the right side drift. Originally, I was leaning towards the Michelin, but there are reports of drift and premature wear. I will probably go with the Bridgestone.

Default Bridgestone Turanza with Serenity

I live in So Cal and drive a lot of freeways, if your looking for Smooth and Quiet... you have found your tire, the Bridgestone Turanza with Serenity

Its the perfect tire for the LS460, I have about 6 months on mine

Thanks all, for the input. Was just wondering if there was anything better out there than the Turanzas. I've had 3 sets (came stock on both LS's). Got 65,000 on the first 2 sets. The current set has 44,000 but the tread is gone on the inside of all 4 tires.

I had the right drift problem when the car was new, but the dealer "adjusted" the alignment about 4 months ago. I suspect that whatever they did is what is causing the uneven wear, but can't prove anything. Now they want to sell me a new set of tires and another $200 alignment.

I have the Michelin Primacy MXM4 tires on my car and really like them. Very good dry and wet road handling and very quiet as well. Highly rated on Tire Rack.

I have the 19" 5 spoke alloy wheels on my 2011 SWB and am not certain that the MXM4's come in 18".

Excellent points. However, Michelin PRIMACY MXM4's DO come in 18". JM Lexus put me on a new set in July, 2011, and we loved how they behaved. QUIET - Superb Handling - SMOOTH Riding (Of course, that was before I met Chris and wound up with 20" Lumarai's and Bridgestones).

However the wonderful PRIMACY line, at least for the 235/50-18 size we need, appears to have been discontinued. DiscountTireDirect confirmed that for me this A.M. I then checked Michelin's website and this was confirmed again, only for the size we require in 18." There probably is stock with local dealers.

A real shame. This was a SPECIAL tire. Just SPLENDID ! Of course, I did hear tell of some 'ole coot in the Georgia backwoods who had a set of 4 with 2500 miles, mounted and balanced on Lexus rims, with Lexus TPMS, he might part with). LOL.

Y'all play nicely now, y'hear ? !!!!! - Always GREAT Wishes your way - Mikey Luleian on the Lake

Man if I cant get this vibration issue fixed with my 22" wheels I am going back to stock and going to Michelins next time. I like the bridgestones but Michelin is usually the best in many cases.

dsc07, I didn't post here because you were looking for tires that were "quiet", but I see you are having problems with a replacement. I replaced my Turanzas with Pirelli P Zero Neros. They are not as quiet as the Turanzas, but to tell that I have to ride with the radio off and no passengers - which for me basically never happens.

I selected the Pirellis because they have been top rated by both Tire Rack and Consumer Reports for several years running. The key factor for me is the Pireillis are the best handling tire on wet pavement. That's important for me in the Northeast, but maybe not so important for you in SoCal!

Bridgestone Serenity's here. I have had them for the last year - about 10K miles. Really quiet and smooth ride when compared to the stock Bridgestone EL42 tires.

Are you talking about the Turanza Serenity or the Turanza EL42 that's stock on our LS's. The Serenity is suppose to be much better. Bridgestone makes many different Turanza tires.
