I am in the market for a wheel refresh and most likely going from 20 to 22" since I no longer have a long commute to be concerned about, which is the main reason I went with 20s in the first place.

Current or past 22" wheel owners, please post up your particular 22" wheel thoughts when it comes to the LS460.

Items of interest that would be nice to know

* Ride comfort
* Tire wear observations
* Passenger comments "hey, this car rides nice" or "hey, why is it so bumpy"
* Interested in hearing from owners with both 265/30/22 and the 295/25/22 rear tire setups
* Vibration..are you dealing with issues or do you have a glass smooth ride?
* Drama with dealer during service involving suspension, drivetrain, other issues?

This info will help others as well, so please be as descriptive as possible. Thanks all!

1) ride was just fine. it definitely got harsher compared to stock 18s but still extremely comfortable. car lowered on air suspension
2) only had them for 6 months, couldn't tell
3) everyone was beyond amazed at the ride height, wheel size, and the ride comfort
4) funny my front was 265/30 and rear was 295/25 falken
5) zero vibration. hub centric rings used on wheels
6) zero issue and complaints, except i couldn't get out of dealerships because people kept on looking at it....

rominl, thanks for sharing! did you notice whether or not they balanced your wheels with or without the hubcentric ring on the balancer?

I'll give my 2 cents about having 22" wheels:

Ride Comfort - It is harsher than stock, but the stock suspension/wheels was far too soft for my liking, so this change was something I was happy about.

Tire Wear Observations - I can't really contribute, haven't put enough miles on the car

Passenger Comments - "Nice Wheels "

Tire Size - I have 265/30 and 295/25 - My car doesn't ride like glass, but I think on my next go around I'll be running 275/25 tires in the rear.

Vibration - No complaints here about that sitting on Falken FK452 - just make sure when you get your tires balanced.

Various trips to the dealership, all compliments, zero complaints.

i have 22x10, running 255/30/22 hankook v4.

* Ride comfort: noticeably more stiff than stock, but still rides ok
* Tire wear observations: none yet, i've only had the wheels on for a week
* Passenger comments "hey, this car rides nice" or "hey, why is it so bumpy": a few people noticed the difference compared to stock
* Interested in hearing from owners with both 265/30/22 and the 295/25/22 rear tire setups: N/A to me
* Vibration..are you dealing with issues or do you have a glass smooth ride?: none
* Drama with dealer during service involving suspension, drivetrain, other issues?: none, but i've only taken the car in for an oil change since i put the wheels on. the car is also out of factory 50k warranty

they balanced the wheels with the rings on. i think that should always be the case anyway

1. Ride comfort- Pretty much what the guys said already, would say about 5-10% stiffer
2. Tire wear observations- about 7500miles so far so good (not lowered yet)
3. Passenger comments - My dad was the number one critic, and others don't seem to notice at all (but my dad has a ls430)
4. Interested in hearing from owners with both 265/30/22 and the 295/25/22 rear tire setups- i have 245/30 and 295/25 a bit of a stretch but so far after lots of harsh bumps and bad roads they protect the wheels pretty good
5. Vibration..are you dealing with issues or do you have a glass smooth ride? - For me there is a slight vibration at around 65ish or 75ish very very light though.
6. Drama with dealer during service involving suspension, drivetrain, other issues?- Personally, my dealer hates me for some reason LOL but they cope with me much better than my old infiniti dealer that refused to service my car at all

Interesting to see the different 22" tire sizes being used. I know with plus sizing, the closer to overall stock size diameter the better, but when it comes to 22s, I'm sure some extra meat on the tires is preferred. I noticed a member on here has 265/30 on the rear with a staggered 22" Vossen setup which I assume is a 10.5 wide wheel, but the two tire spec sheets for Nexen and General tire state the wheel width max is up to 10" for the 265/30/22 size. Seems the 245f /295r setup has the same overall diameter front and rear at 27.8"

Using a tire calculator and the stock 235/50/18 tire size, here are the differences based on http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

STOCK 235/50/18 -
Sidewall Height - 4.6"
Overall Diameter - 27.3"

245/30/22 -
Sidewall Height -2.9"
Overall Diameter - 27.8"

255/30/22 -
Sidewall Height - 3.0"
Overall Diameter - 28.0"

265/30/22 -
Sidewall Height - 3.1"
Overall Diameter - 28.3"

295/25/22 -

nitro fill is a gimmick imho, never believe in those stuff.

for mine, i ran 40psi cold

i'm also running 40psi -- the biggest reason you'd run nitrogen is for better consistency while lapping, but i don't think any of us are running our cars competitively. it's really just a reason for tire shops to charge customers more :P
