What I like and dislike about this car

+1 for drivers seat.
I also think for the grade of vehicle it is, the dash cover should be leather ( I realize on the 600h L, it is).
Still cant believe the car has Bluetooth phone capability but not able to stream music.
The AUX port is in a silly location.
Love the car though.

Things I hate..
The paint, it's too soft.
Navigation
I don't like how the steering wheel looks, it's too bulky, bubbly
The wood trim is too thin on the doors, it cracks.
The wind noise...the tire noise.
Other than that?? I mean holy crap, it's a beast.

Over 8+ years of ownership I'm pretty happy with my car. Really the only negative I have is those damn drip moldings peeling. I know over the years people have complained about the driver's seat. I guess it is just a personal preference, and probably body type, but I've always been very comfortable.
I had my Infiniti Q45a for 14 years and I about 188K miles. The only reason I had to give it up was excessive rust (a problem that seems to plague Nissan models). I expect/hope I will have this car even longer.

I don't think the leather dash is all that important, just a nice finish.
But I don't think it would have been difficult to enable Bluetooth audio in accordance to the phone system. I have an older model so I wasn't expecting to have certain features.
As I said I still really enjoy the car.
I have an L, so there is leather on the arm rest/door handle.
Great car!

I think the steering wheel kind of "dates" the interior a bit.
I still don't like the navigation either....
I have a front end protective covering so the front end is in great condition, however I have a few smaller chips on the lower portion of the drivers/passenger side doors, around the area where it meets the lower front fender.
My wood is actually fine. I thought it was prettty sturdy...
My wind noise is minimal; I have very, very little, but the road noise is present. But I mostly attribute that to these wonderful roads out here in the Midwest!

My raves:
- Quiet and placid ride
- Silky and oh-so-linear engine that pulls hard all the way to redline
- Fantastic steering for a luxobarge (after replacement of control arms)
- The toys! Especially the ML system. And I like the navigation
- Awesome low beam headlights
- Comfortable seating positions, especially in back... passengers don't want to get out
- Material quality almost everywhere (except the dark gray center stack plastic); I have no wood or paint issues
My rants... most of them are pretty nitpicky:
- Nonlinear braking action. Still often making goofy stops after four months' ownership
- Transmission sometimes two steps behind me
- No manual intermittent mode on the wipers; the auto wipers are ALWAYS swiping too often for me
- Shoulder bolsters too close together for my wide shoulders
- No way to close the trunk from inside the car
- And... of course, the bill to replace control arms after just 45,000 miles

I'll skip over all the many reliability issues and just talk about the characteristics of the car: 2007 LS460L
Pros
1) Great all-around car. Does everything well
2) Good gas mileage and big tank means long time between fill-ups
3) Great interior legroom, front and back.
Cons
1) Engine could use more low-end grunt
2) Transmission downshift is the usual laggy affair. Why??? Lexus needs to copy a 1998 Chevy Cavalier.
3) Steering wheel, like most newer cars, does not tilt low enough and the tilt axis is all wrong
4) Doors sometimes unlock automatically like they should. Sometimes don't.
5) If I do anything the car deems unsafe, I get an earful of beeps. No thanks.
6) Crappy door panels in every sense of the word
7) Windshield wipers are always too fast
8) Almost all of the automatic features (rear view dim, wipers, door unlock, outside mirror fold, etc.) work poorly. I mean that they do work, but their logic is never right.
9) Electric steering work OK but nowhere near as nice as my 1995 SC300's.

Pros:
The transmission is as perfect as the MBenz 7-speed
Wood trim is nice and there is plenty of it.
Exterior design
Lit seatbelt receivers
Impressive highway gas-mileage
Cons:
Interior panels leave a bit to be desired (primarily the B-pillars)
Center rearview mirror is not part of the memory seat "gear"
Handling that borders on abysmal

The placement of the SOS button. I use HomeLink button #3 for my RH garage door. And I put my finger on the SOS button nearly every time. I always have to look up and check myself before I push the button, and create a false alarm. Part of my responsibilities when I was an automotive engineer with to lead a task force to determine best practices for the features inside a vehicle. I learned a lot. And the placement of the SOS button, and the fact that it is the same shape and size leads to a big no-no condition. There are a few other features that I would make changes to, in order to improve the function and natural understanding of them. But the SOS button is my leading negative.

Its interesting looking through all of these and having a 2015 model. Almost all the negatives have been addressed in newer models, even down to the placement of the homelink buttons.

Sure we can look back now and scoff, but back then the tech just wasn't reliable or widely available.
