I have the ML system and still have never tried to play a DVD. I will give it a shot if I get a second and let you know. I would assume that the entire system would produce sound.

I tried the movie shawshank redemprion and only have sound from front speakers.

You definitely should get sound from all speakers. Do you have ML system?

I do have ML system. I also install the prestigious society bypass. Does that affect anything?

No the actual fix is a lot more complicate than that.
