strange CD player issue
Hi Guys,
Hope you can help with this. My LS 460 2009 cd player suddenly does not play CDs in slots 1, 2, 3 but works fine in 4, 5, 6. I have tried different CDs but no success. Also, I recorded from slots 1, 2, 3 and the recording to the HDD is just fine and plays fine in the HDD. But when a cd is placed in slot 1, 2, 3 of the disc changer, I can not hear any playback but I can tell that the CD is playing as I tell by the time counter.
I have the LS under warranty so I took it in and they replaced the CD player. When I checked it it still has the same problem?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

No kidding....the dealer replaced the HU and didn't test it to make sure it was working? Very shoddy service.
I seem to remember someone else reported a similar problem on this forum within the last 2-3 months. Try searching on "cd player" or something, you might find it.

It can record but can't play? Sounds like a software problem to me.
If the CD's in the slots 4,5,6 are working fine, try to take one of them and put it in slot no. 1 and see if it works (play & record). If it couldn't play but could record, that would increase the possibility it's a software problem.
Solving a software problem could be as easy as disconnecting and reconnecting the battery or upgrading the firmware.

Thanks guys,
I agree that the problem is probably a software issue. I have tried all different kinds of CDs and still some of of the slots don't playback. Interestingly, sometimes one of the slot that were not playing before start to play when I change CDs and then the one that were fine before stops playback. I am more convinced that it is a software issue. I am taking the car in tomorrow and will let you guys know what happens.
Many thanks.
