Well, it looks like I'm buying a 2008 Lexus LS460L tomorrow. I won't really have it until some time next week as I'll be away for a few days after I make the purchase - and it needs some prep...

In any event, I do remember hearing about wind noise issues with 2007 models. Was that taken care of by 2008? Is there anything else that I need to look out for specifically? It's a CPO so I'm guessing it'll be in good shape when all is said and done.

It's got Mark Levinson, soft closing doors, the VIN report shows me all wheel drive (not sure why but I do understand this vehicle does not have it), adjustable adaptive variable suspension, intuitive parking assist, advanced parking guidance system, 19" alloy wheels, VGRS, big f'ing brakes.

I wish there was iPod connectivity but since I have the HDD hard drive, that should be fine..

This will be my fourth Lexus. I started with buying a 2000 RX300 for my wife, then a 2005 LS430 for myself, a 2010 RX350 for my wife, and now this for myself..

Congrats! Just bought an '08 myself about six months ago, so I get where you're coming from.

First off, I don't believe AWD was available until '09 so cross that off your list. Next I'd search the forum for all the TSIB's that apply to the '08 LWB. I like things current, so I had the nav and CDDB databases updated (nav=$, CDDB=free). You can use the aux input in the center console for ipod connectivity, but it doesn't give you the full interface like you might like. Check out VAIS for that, and Prestigious Society for the nav/video in motion override.

Others will chime in on the wind noise. I think the problem still exists with the '08, but it's hit or miss by vehicle. jmcraney has a full write-up on how to fix that yourself if you're so inclined.

Do all the TSIBs. If the valve springs repair hasn't been done yet, get it done.

The car offers iPod connectivity through the aux port, but without the control functions and battery charging. For that you'll need to get one of VAIS' products.

On the window issue, check to see if it says Lamisafe etched in the corner of the front windows. As for all wheel drive, in 2008 only the LS600h had that. It was available for LS460's beginning in 2009. If it has the 19" wheels and big f'ing brakes I assume it is the touring model? As for the HDD, you can't download your iPod songs to it, just through CDs. Do a search and see if you can copy the songs from your computer to a CD and download them that way, I have no idea.

Thanks, guys. I should have the car tomorrow.. In regards to the VAIS stuff, are there any options to have this type of thing dealer installed? Since it's a CPO, I don't want to void my warranty... Any thoughts?

I have the car. I'll post pictures soon.. I do have a little wind noise so I'll need to look into that whole triangle fix as soon as I get a chance...
