Default LS600 steering vibration

Hey all, new to the site. I just bought a 2008 LS600 Obsidian with Exec package. Happy with the car except for some steering vibration at low speeds when turning. Took it to Newport Lexus...they say..."normal for an AWD LS600". Any other LS600 owners experience the same thing? Appreciate the help.

Welcome! Hmmm that doesn't sound right. How many miles do you have and what is the condition of your tires. You may want to try another Lexus service dept. Tustin isn't too far away from Newport. Then the next closest ones would be Westminster, Mission Viejo and Cerritos.

I have a 2008 600 and mine vibrates turning had right and hard left at low speeds as well. I was told that this is typical with this vehicle. Has anyone one else solved this issue with Lexus service department and if so what did they do?

Check out these threads. Looks like a TSIB L-SB-0023-11

http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls46...eleration.html

http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls46...ease-help.html

This post from wanderer99 seems to sum up the process
'I've driven 3 LS600 vehicles. One had no driveline shudder, one had mild shudder, one had strong shudder. It's most pronounced when turning at slow speeds and gently accelerating, or when reversing and turning at a 90 degree angle as in when you are reversing out of a parking spot. If you can establish the above exists and produces a shudder, you can move onto the fix below.

There is a TSIB on this (L-SB-0023-11) which covers 2008-2010 LS600 models. It's also listed on AllDataDIY as being covered under the 7yr/70miles powertrain warranty. The process is the transfer case fluid is drained, filled again, car is driven a mile, then repeat the entire process two more times.'

My 2008 'new to me' LS600 had this exact problem, and my Lexus dealer was able to completely solve it via the TSB the others have mentioned. Some sort of 'miracle' transfer case oil changed out 3 times with a short drive between each change. The oil is very expensive, but Lexus picked up the tab under my CPO warranty. Good luck!

Interesting....... I thought non-recall TSBs were conducted on cars under the original factory warranty, but not on cars under CPO/extended warranties?

I believe you're correct, in general. My Lexus dealer had to call the CPO guys to ask them to cover this specific repair, since my car's Powertrain Warranty had just expired this past April. My Lexus mechanics weren't sure what the CPO guys would say, but they reported that the warranty guys approved the repair without blinking an eye.

Props to Lexus for covering this one even though they technically could have refused based on the CPO warranty limitations regarding non-recall TSBs! Just one more reason to stick with Lexus!

Welcome to the Club and congrats on your purchase, i have never had that issue with my 600 and i hate that you are having those issues with car. I would suggest doing like flipside909 said and take it to another service dept for a second opinion.

Sorry to bring back an old thread.

Just took my 600 in, has the slow turning vibration. Dealer is going to replace the transfer case fluid next week. They didn't have the fluid in stock.

Will report back to see if it helps.

Sorry to hear this.

I must ask: does your VIN end in 11228 or earlier? This is the "official" cutoff for the TSIB (not that this would be the first time that the cutoff in a bulletin needs to be revised).
