Help with xm radio
I am taking my 08 in for its 10,000 mile service next week and my xm satelite radio has not work right since i bought the car last year. I live in central new jersey and a rarely keep reception for a few minutes before i get no signal. there are no mountains, just trees and sometimes i loose signals when there are no trees around. i told them about this at my 5000 mile service and they told me all the connections are fine. I bought a lifetime subscription of xm but i can rarely use it. is it possible there is a problem with the system or do you think the trees and enviroment is the problem. has anyone else had this problem, should i demand that the dealer do something about it. thanks

When there are a lot of trees, I lose signal, but it comes right back when I'm out of the thick trees. If no trees are around, you have some sort of signal problem. I would say you have a problem with either the radio, or antenna. I use XM all the time in both vehicles and don't have this problem...

my reception has been very bad ever since a bought the car a year ago, this morning i couldnt get anything on xm, please everyone let me know if anyone else is having a problem, also does where you live affect reception, i would think in the most populus state, the reception would be ok (new jersey)

I have have had excellent reception and I also have a Pioneer XM portable receiver. There are times when I've turned both on and the Lexus receiver will be fine, but the portable loses reception.

Please don't take offense, but, is your subscription current?
When you select a channel, do you get a "no signal" message, or just no sound?

in So Cal its pretty strong, but unfortunately the content isnt very good nor is the quality of all the stations, some are much clearer than others, depending on the original source. Overall I would not renew with them next year, although the NaviTec is pretty cool, I just dont use it enough to justify it.

I think you have the best kind of problem - one that is irrefutable. I am betting that your dealer will solve this to your satisfaction. Please let us know about the outcome.
