Default Best price on 2010 LS

I live in Northern New Jersey. Dealer says allocation on 2010's is now known.
I tried to negotiate a price on an inbound LS SWB. Best dealer would do is $2,900 off MSRP. I thought the price was kind of steep given that the car with the options I want gives the dealer about a $5,000.00 profit, plus the holdback. Has anyone been able to negotiate a better deal than this? Does anyone know of any dealers in the NY Metro or New Jersey area that are willing to make a better deal? I know that the 2010's are just becoming available, but are they in such demand that the dealers do not need to give better pricing? I know on previous year models, the deals were more generous to the purchasers.

Hold your horses and you'll do much better. The cars have not yet arrived (or are just) so they'll get top dollar. By February (not that far away) the bloom will be off the rose and the dealing will be better. It's all about supply and demand....

^agreed, its not worth IMO the extra 5k to have it a month earlier...though at times it may feel like it is ...

The deal I got was $1k over invoice on a SWB AWD with ML. They gave me what I wanted for my trade as well. They started much much higher similar to the $2,900 off MSRP quote you got. I had my checkbook out ready to go and said this is my offer and they took it after another try to get more out of me. Who really knows what goes thorugh their minds. They gave me the "we will make it up on the next few deals" line afterwards. I am happy with my deal. She is arriving the 29th they tell me.

So I called my local dealer today and asked if I can test drive the 2010 LS460 sport. He said there's none out there. My next question was what kind of a deal they would make me if I special ordered the car and he told me full sticker price. Are they out of their mind? My friend just leased an 09 SWB and got about $9,000 off sticker price (from the same dealer mind you).

Any thoughts?

Again, hold your horses. Supply and demand. Supply is just starting to trickle out of the factory and there is always a group who wants the latest and greatest. Give it a few months....by February they'll be begging for you to come back. The '09 is yesterday's news....you can't compare deals on an '09.

I was offered $1,800 over invoice for an LS460 SWB with an MSRP of $73K, which brings the sell price to $66K. Now other dealers that I visited are trying to talk me into buying from them if they beat my deal. $1K over invoice seems very acceptable to some of the dealers around here, while others are still living in la-la land expecting MSRP or close to it.

Try to buy from a dealer in a less afluent neighborhood. It seems to make all the difference on their motivation levels.

I just got a 2010 LS 460 Sport and the deal was $3,000 off MSRP with hard negotiating. They had one in stock (only one in Atlanta with about 5 other people waiting to drive it if I turned it down) and I was turning in my BMW the next day. I had a deal on a loaded 2010 MB E550 that fell through because MB Financial backed out of the lease deal because I would't do a personal guarantee on a corporate lease. In any event, I tried to negotiate a better price but it's all about supply and demand. There are very few Sport versions out there. I don't know about a factory order because it never came up.
