you can get a nicely equiped LS460L for around say 60K 08 and about 70K for an 09....color combination makes the price either go up or down.

Buy a used 07-08 and wait for the 2010's. Its make no sense to purchase a soon-to-be-outdated 09 new. The 10's will be here shortly and will offer a new look with new technology inside.

New look but probably not a better look if the spy pictures are accurate.

Based on precedent, the announcement will occur in October. No details officially confirmed; it is likely to stay 460.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a new '09, if the price is right. Plus the new look and new technology may not suit you. I remember reading a rumor here that they may do away with the touch screen. If that were the case, there's not a chance I would buy a '10.

I would agree that it makes no sense to buy a 2009. I'm watching closely to see if anything changes. At this point, you can easily buy a 2009 at invoice. However, you will likely be able to buy a 2010 at just a bit above invoice since the overall market is so bad. Lexus offered a $6,000 incentive at the end of 2008 to clear their remaining inventory. Until they do something like that this year, the 2009's, even at invoice, are not a good value. Their values will plummet when the 2010's come out. Be patient and wait. You will regret it if you don't.

I think the best you can do will vary from one dealer to another depending on how much inventory they have and how badly they want to move it before the 10s show up.

Were it me, I would look at large inventory dealers with the hope they might cut a better deal to start them moving rather than those dealers having only one or two of what you want.

The closer the 10s get to the showroom the more motivation the dealers will have.

Its a buyer's market.

And why exactly couldn't you pick up an 07 or 08 and wait? If you like to blow money on something that is going to depreciate fairly sharply in just a couple months then go right ahead. It sounds like you have more money then cents.

Go for the 2010 model. You stand out in the crowd of LS460s, imo.

The differences in the 2010 model are extremely subtle. You're not going to be getting an "outdated" car if you go for the 09 by any stretch of the imagination.
