Default What is the quietest tire?

I have Nitto Invo tires 245/40zr20 on 20x9.5 wheels currently installed on my 2008 LS460. I am very satisfied with the tire performance regarding handling. They really stick to the pavement dry or wet. However, the road noise is substantially more prominent than the stock Bridgestone Turanzas. I would like to change the tires to the quietest ones possible in this size, maybe giving up a little performance for less noise. I would appreciate any suggestions out there based on actual experience and/or use of any particular tire as compared to the Nitto Invos.

Can't go wrong with Michelins. Cost a little more but always a top-tier tire.

When it comes to "Quiet Comfort", Michelin tires are not that highly rated. This Tirerack Consumer Survey indicates that the Bridgestone ER30 Series are the quietest & best performance when compared to the Michelin & Goodyear equivalents. This is based on Michelin's reported miles at 5.8M and Bridgestone's 1.2M. Dunlop does quite well in the same survey, but does not enjoy a high "Buy Again" rating.

I replaced the super noisy Yokohama Advans that came on my GS350 with Michelin PS2s and they were dead silent. Probably the most expensive tire out there but definitely worth it.

The Falken FK 452 is the quietest summer tire out there. I have read this on several tire forums. I currently have them and I am very happy with the wear and the quietness of the tires as they age. Give them a shot. I think you will be pleasantly surprised

I live in Maine, where snow is an issue.

Even though my LS is AWD, I use snow tires during the winter. I don't think that summer tires are a good idea in snow or ice, even with AWD.

Next year I'd like to replace the summer and snow tires with all season tires.

Anyone with suggestions on some quiet all season tires?

Hush Puppies. Whenever I walk in them you could hear a pin drop!

From my research it's a toss up between Bridgestone's Blizzaks and Michelin's X-Ice tires.

The two are closely matched and rated in dry, snow and icy conditions..

Thanks, but those are both winter/snow tires. I'm looking for a quiet all season (not summer) tire.

Oops, I never got past the first line in your post.

Try the link in my first post above. It'll take you to the Tirerack Quiet ratings.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. If anyone else has a suggestions regarding
the quietest riding tire out there in 245/40/20 size either ultra high performance, high performance or touring, I welcome your comments.

Falkens have a histrory of being quiet for about 10K miles then they go loud.

Michelin PS2 was the most quiet tire I have had. Only problem is they cost a lot and only last about 18K miles.
