Talking LS600: why?

Hello.

Ok, I found that there're quite a few owners of LS600hL sedan.
But why did you buy LS600hL over LS460?
Better interior, fuel economy or just for fun?
Any ideas are welcome.

Regards!

I think a few bought 600hL because of AWD too, since before the 2009 model year, the LS460 not available with AWD ...

i really wouldn't think gas mileage would be a big factor, at least to me. by my book, if i get the 600hl?

- exclusivity
- cool factor
- extra gadgets

I would give a +1 to the exclusivity factor.

agreed. plus driving a hybrid by itself offers more quiet interiors.

has to be the leather wrapped dash for me.

Because nothing else proves that "you've failed in life" by getting an LS460L instead of an LS600hL...

For me, my decisions to purchase my LS600hL over a LS460 were (in order of importance):

1. AWD
2. CVT
3. Stealth mode (It's fun to silently sneak by pedestrians).

Mileage was WAY down on the list, of mild interest.

"Exclusivity" wasn't even on the list. I'd rather be anonymous.

LED headlights was a minus. I prefer the brighter HID.

The long version was a minus. I'd have preferred the standard length.

Helmar, you took the words right out of my mouth.

Exact reasons why I traded after 16 months - regardless of the deal.

Default 3 year old LS600hL or brand new LS460?

Actually, that brings up an interesting question.

In 2 years, my 3 year lease will be up.

I'm guessing that the residual value of the LS600hL will be $70,000 to $80,000.

So, I'll have to decide whether to spend $70,000 to $80,000 to buy my 3 year old car that will probably go many more years without any major failure or the same amount of money for a brand new AWD LS460 with most everything that the LS600hL has except CVT and stealth.

HBH, you didn't check on the residual when you bought the car? don't put your hope up, if i remember right, 600hl residual sux, i guess around 50%. say your car is 115k, we are talking about 55k at the end of your lease

I don't remember how much attention I paid to the residual value and I don't feel like digging out the paperwork.

If it's only 55k or so then that makes my decision easier.

I'll probably buy the car and keep it for 5 years or so after the lease runs out.

I like the car and would enjoy keeping it.....Even with all of its whiz bang gadgets and features, it should turn out to be very reliable.

If its only $55K, then it's relatively cheap to buy the 600hL ...
