CD Recording
I have recorded 24 C Ds on the hard drive. Now it will not let me record any more either on Fast Record or manually. The dealer says that I should erase all of the recordings and start over again. Anyone else had this problem?

What format are your music files in (mp3, WAV), and how many songs are on what size (700MB?) disk?
Your HDD's capacity is 2000 songs, but it depends on bit rate...

I thinnk you can only record at two different bit rates. I record everything at the higher rate (256K) and have about 110 CD's on my HD, which is 99% full. If you press "Album List" and then "Manage", it tells you how much of the hard drive has been used.

Something very different happened to me today but along the same lines. My nav bought a new CD called "Viva La Vida by Coldplay, made by Capitol Records" and I made several attempts to record while the car was parked in the garage. Everytime the screen would just "turned grey" once I hit the record button (as if refusing to do it).
FYI - I have 83 CD's recorded and the HD is 66% full. Didn't have this problem with any of the other CD's downloaded. Also, please note that this new cd plays back normal but does not display the artist name/song title/etc.
Have the recording companies started installing anti-copying software? Any input would be greatly appreciated before I go calling on the dealer.

Since I am now loading my HDD from scratch, I have some numbers that give an idea about the projected capacity of the system. So far, I’ve loaded 11 CDs and they contain differing numbers of songs due mostly to music style. In this case, Jazz or Classical disks have a lower number, and medleys or mixes a higher one.
Disk 1 = 13 songs
Disk 2 = 6 songs
Disk 3 = 12 songs
Disk 4 = 12 songs
Disk 5 = 6 songs
Disk 6 = 6 songs
Disk 7 = 6 songs
Disk 8 = 6 songs
Disk 9 = 18 songs
Disk 10 = 11 songs
Disk 11 = 6 songs
The total number of songs in my case then equals 102. They are all stored at 256kbps, and use up 7% of the available disk space. Therefore, 7x = 10200 or 1457 songs @ 100% capacity at the current recording rate. Looking at it from another perspective, using the number of disks goes like this, 7x = 1100 yields 157 disks. If one theorized 20 songs per disk, the HDD could conceivably store 3140 songs – but we know that this won't happen. So, I can see where the 2000 songs claim by Lexus comes from. Really, one needs to look at this scenario from a minutes POV.
Good Luck with it anyway...

I've copied about 20 CD's from the changer to the hard drive memory, so far, so good, except for a couple of small problems....Once copied, you can sort the albums by Artist, Album or Genre. When I sort by Album, all is fine...I can choose any album from the list and it starts to play. However, when I sort the material via Artist, a funny thing happens.....Once I select the album I want, the tracks start to play in REVERSE order, that is, from a 10 track album the tracks play in sequential order of 10, 9, 8, 7, etc. down to track one.
Also, if I have several albums from the same artist, all the tracks are lumped into one large file; that is, I cannot select a specific album, all the tracks are part of one "album".
I can't find any mention of this in the instruction manual. Are others finding the same problem, or is there something wrong with my system?

How do i record selected tracks from a CD... The system will recprd the entire CD and then I have to go back and edit (delete) tracks... I would like to select only the tracks I want instead of recording the entire CD... Can this be done?

Go to REC SETTINGS, and check that Auto REC is turned OFF. If it is on, any CD you insert will record all the tracks automatically. Once this is done you are now in Manual Rec mode. Press the REC button, and manually select the desired tracks. Press OK. The HDD will then record only the tracks you have selected.
