Hey guys! Might be getting myself a 2008 LS460 SWB.
Question though, how can i tell if my car is a 2008 model, and not a 07? Reason is, i read in the archives of this forum, or a user who bought an 08 LS460 which was manufactured in 09/07.
I regret reading up on the car in this forum, as now im plagued with sensitivity about the wind noise. I will only get the car if its an 08!! How can i really tell its an 2008 model?
Thanks!

The answer to your question lies in the VIN number. There is a change in the code contained within the VIN number that tells anyone who knows how to read it whether the car is an '07 production year model of '08.

The fact is that Lexus simply changed the VIN number series to reflect that the vehicle is now designated as an '08, making no obvious changes to the design of the car (their vice president whom I met at the Detroit Auto Show said the changes were minor internal ones that a typical customer would not be able to see). There are no substantive changes from '07 to '08, and I wonder if Lexus will do the same thing for '09. I was disappointed to learn that Lexus is not updating their ultimate LS navigation system with NAV-Weather (instant downloads as the NAV-Traffic feature), and still is not offering NAV-Traffic on the ES (even the Ultra Luxury model), a huge disappointment. They are missing an opportunity to recapture some of the 35 percent drop in LS sales this past model year with the ES, by adding power folding outside mirrors, headlamp washers, power trunk, heated steering wheel, NAV-Traffic as some customers are down sizing to the ES (gasoline prices, economy, etc.).

Yeah i actually noticed that myself George, Borneo now has a Mica Blue LS460 as their test drive car, with registration "2828". I tried to see the vin on the front windscreen, counted to the 10th digit and i think it was a "3".

If the last five digits are is greater than 70,000 than the car is definitely produced in 2008 and its already August, the car you will be getting is definitely produced in 2008 unless its some color that is not high in demand like beige or green.
