Wind noise in the back seat
Hi all,
I've got an LS460L.
I've read about the many wind noise problems in the forum.
I haven't experienced this when driving but people in the backseat tell me there is an annoying sound this hear when we get on the highway. I sometime can hear that too but it sounds like its coming somewhere from the back.
Is that the same issue like the other wind noise problem mentioned on the forum?
Frankly the most silent car I've had was the LS400, the LS430 was noisier and so is the LS460. Or maybe I'm just getting older and more sensetive ;-)
appreciate any feedback.
My VIN is 75011377.
thanks
Uso

Welcome to CL, Uso. Can you describe the sound that is heard? Does it sound like the window is open, a whistle, or creak? Also, do you hear it equally from both sides of the car?
Hopefully a solution can be found to remedy this issue.

Make sure all the A/C vents in the back, both center console and door pillar, are wide open. Test drove an Audi A8 one time that had an annoying sound you could only hear from the back seat - one of the door pillar vents was not quite completely closed. In our LS460, when the wife (almost) shuts one of the dash vents, I sometimes get an un-normal noise that takes a while to track down.

I've go sit in the backseat myself and see if I can figure something out.
I'll keep you updated.

I think I know what this problem is. It is not because your windows are opened or there are any cracks. If your car has the 4-zone A/C system make sure the fan speed is not at its highest, if it is and the air purifier is on at the same time there will be a loud noise. You can also set the fan speed at its highest but turning off the air purifier will make the noise significantly softer as the air purifier is at the rear, near the rear sunshade. So if you do not want to hear the noise I recommend turning the fan speed to the 2nd highest or off the air purifier.
