From 2007 to 2008, on the LS460L, what are the major differences?

My dealer told me the only difference is the price went up $500.

Yeah, I've heard that from a few different people, wondering if some of the tech types on this forum know of some differences that are worth paying for.

I'm not a tech type, but my dealer told me that even though there do no appear to be any major differences, they did some refinements to the engine, worked on a few "bugs" on the 2007 model, installed the new 7.1, Nav, etc.

umm, what refinement? something we can actually detect?

i suppose some of the TSIB would have applied on new cars already

but to user, the 7.1 is probably the only most noticeable changes on the car

I have a feeling that if you ask this question to a salesman he will most likely mention 'refinements' in an attempt to sell you an 08...pretty standard I would think.

Doubt Lexus would be happy with one of their salespeople saying..well the only difference is pretty much that it says 08 and it costs $500 more.

i call that an honest salesman though. in fact, that's what my salesman told me. i got one of the last 07 and he told me 08 is the same except 500 bucks more. cool with me

Actually the 2008 is $550 more, they raised the delivery charge from $715 to $765. After all, the price of fuel went up!

Romin, I think he was mostly talking about fixing that hesitation (when accelerating from a stop) that some people were complaining about. However, he was also trying to tell me that they did some fine tuning on the engine so that it runs even smoother. The person that was telling me this was not my salesman who is young but another very well respected salesman who has worked at my dealer for many years. I will ask again about this in the near future.

I also heard of the same feature differences in regards to fine tuning and to save fuel. The 08 model has some slight upgrades in the tranny eg if you are in traffic with your foot on the brake the torque converter disenguages to save fuel etc. I was told this by the head mech at my dealer. They supposedly had some recent training on the feature.

interesting, i didn't hear my master tech friend going to new special courses on the 08. but anyway, i can understand they do the tranny fit, i believe after certain VIN all trannies are programmed the new way

al, the tq converter disengage part, i believe that was the case in 2007 already? but that's also why people got that jerking problem (including me) so they took away that feature?

I had the TSIB performed on my 2007 to fix the jerking problem. It was just a software update that all ls460s that are within the VIN range can get.
