Default LS460: Unlock from Hundreds of Miles Away!

Someone sent me this and I did not believe it. So my son and I tested it and amazingly enough, IT WORKS! I could not START my new LS460, but I could unlock it thru two cell phones. I guess the signal is an audio frequency that we cannot hear.

It did not work with the FOB on my wife's 2003 Mercury Mountaineer (Ford Explorer clone), and I will soon test it on my daughter's Honda CR-V.

This is amazing:

"Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk)."

That may be fine and believable for the doors or trunk, however it won't start the car, and even if it did, how far would get without the fob?

interesting, read it on forums long ago and people said it's a myth. maybe lexus keys are using certain type of radio frequencies that works through cell phones pretty well huh

but wait...... on other cars, maybe..... why would you worry about this problem in this car? i believe if the key is inside the cabin area, there is no way you can lock the car from outside?

I agree that it really doesn't do anything functional for us LS460 owners. You cannot start the engine. But it's just a neat "gee-whiz" thing.

Last Friday night, when we were going out to dinner, we both had one fob each in our bags. I remembered to get it out of my bag right when we came out of the car. But, she forgot. When I tried to lock the car, it wouldn't. So, she had to get the key out of hers and the car locked. So, I don't know how it's possible to lock your fob inside the car since it does refuse to lock if you leave it inside.
