There are about 230 Lexus dealers in the U.S., so even if 1/10th of them have a car that's either ordered for inventory, or have customers not taking delivery, that would make 22 of them available ?

Well, we are aware of at least one member here who cancelled the order because of lack of info from Lexus &/or their dealers regarding when certain color/option packages will be available 
, there are certainly more who don't browse this forum who've lost patience having done the same . . .

They have deposits for the whole year's allocation for Canada, but they have a black-on-black base LS600hL not spoken for at Open Road Port Moody.
They tried to sell it to me, it's about C$10K more than a LS460L Exec.Package(the package I would be most interested in) that has A LOT more options in it, so I told them no thanks
Base 600hL in Canada does not have the premium semi-aniline leather seats, no full leather dash, not leather even on the glove box, at least the 460L Exec.Package have that . . .

yes i agree, personally i think some of them are not taken delivery by customers, but i think more of them are ordered by owners and keep it as inventory
i guess the market is still a bit different from japan huh? something like 5000 600 sold in the first 40 days?

The more I see, the more messed up I think the Lexus production/ordering/tracking system is. I also have to wonder how much demand there really is for this car that Lexus has bragged for months is already sold out for 2008. If people are finding them on lots, unspoken for, and there are 22 on cars.com, then something fishy seems to be going on.

They've sold 267 LS600hL's in August 2007, that's way ahead in pace per month of their 1800 units allocation/projection for the year for the U.S. (maybe 100 of them are the Launch Edition ?) :

There were 40 2008 S-Class Benses available just within 30 miles of my zip. I know the original poster was not trying to compare and these situations are different but it truly amazes me how Benz continues to make money so many are disappointed in their purchase. So many claim Benz is better than Lexus yet you continue to see so many on the market.
