Traction control question
Anyone play with the traction control. This is the first time I turned it off and within 30 seconds it went back on. I found you can only engage it when the car is stooped so it's hooked to the speed sensor. At every stop light i had to keep turning it off, does that seem normal?
Please no questions on why I would want it off.

If you hold the button for 3 seconds or more, it will disengage Traction Control.

I think that takes care of accidental or casual disengagements. The three second press tells the computer you really want it off. I just wish the Navi would respond in a similar fashion like, "I really do want all functions enabled while driving."

I've tried it every which way and the dam light goes off after about 30 seconds. So I tried to spin the tires in that 30 sec span and the traction control kicked in. I have the touring model and maybe it works differently. Sucks I can't seem to turn it off.
I to be able to launch this car out of the hole and the rear diff not to slip. I want to be able to turn it off....oh well.

Ok I screwed up........I was at a stop and tried it than moving 4-5 times. I did not know I had to be stopped and in park for it to enguage... it works fine now.
I was in a friends Vett and Mustang Saleen and you can turn the traction control on and off while moving. Forgot I was in a Lexus and had to get an ok first or sign off on something.

Yes the yellow light stays on and also the display on the instrument cluster will also tell you it's disengaged.
I was watching a show on Speed in Jan 07 as the cars were just being released. The TV host was in Canada with a swb LS with a rear seat optioned car. He had taken the car to a race track with a Lexus race car driver. They put the cars through their paces. In one scene both cars were at a stop shown smoking the tires a great deal, I had to see if that was Hollywood trickery or not. So far I think it's trickery, all I got was a short hop. I think they whetted the tires with something to get them spinning.
They loved the car except they slammed the brakes and suspension to be substandard. That was one of the reasons I went with the touring pack.
