Does Lexus use IEEE-1394 to update HDD?
I was told that Lexus use firewire to update date to HDD navigation system. However, where is that MAP Port in LS 460?
In Japan, there's one under the driver site. The port is actually connected to the MultiDisplay. So HDD navigation system will see an external DVD player.

That doesn't look like Firewire (too big), but more like a Cat 5 network connector or a custom SAE style connector.
I could be wrong though; I'd have to see the end of the plug itself.

There are some connectors custom designed for specific applications, and this one may indeed be one of them. The standard standard IEEE-1394 or Firewire connector is not rugged enough for automotive applications performing such complex tasks as these:
The connectors and wiring must conform to SAE Specifications to be sold in North American automobiles, and as such must meet criteria such as, fire resistance, durability, ruggedness, and a whole raft of other safety & engineering related requirements. Trying to connect with anything else would be futile at best.
Good Luck anyway!
Devices that may be coupled with an automotive data bus that were not originally coupled with the bus including but are not limited to cell phones, garage door openers, radar detectors, digital music players, alarms, stereos, GPS receivers, PCs, PDAs, digital cameras, video cameras or any other electronic device. These external devices may be controlled by the switches on a steering wheel or radio buttons for example when coupled with embodiments of the invention...
Good Luck anyway!

I think the text in the first picture only says that the map data is from October 2004 and to ask your retailer if you have questions about how to load it.
If the aim is connect to a standard DVD player (like the one shown in the fourth picture) then the hardware protocol will either be Firewire (IEEE1394) or USB. USB is more common than Firewire for external drives, but it could be either.
There are standard specs for both USB and Firewire connectors in autos. I'm not familar with either. If you look at the cable end, USB normally has 4 signal wires, and Firewire has either 6 (1394A) or 9 (1394B).
The fifth picture says the data is loading into the system and will take 25 minutes, and various warnings such as don't disconnect the cable.
The sixth picture says the data transfer is complete and to touch OK after disconnecting the cable.
The last picture just says that the data is from October 2006, but is otherwise the same as the first photo.
