Considering most dealers are lucky to have more than 2 or 3 on the lot, I don't think they'll have trouble making room of the '08's. You might be able to get a deal on a demo.

From what you listed, it looks like the MSRP of that car is $69,822. Dealer cost is $60,220 (not including a $1220 hold back). I have no idea what the NC market is like. If you have several dealers in your area you can do better than if there is only one or two. Generally a decent deal would be about $5 to $6K over dealer invoice, better if there's competition in your area, worse if there isn't.

i don't follow prices on the swb much so i can't say

but if you want 07, try to get it these two months i think. lexus is pretty smart on doing allocation, it's rare to see them overstock with 07 when the 08 is out. they have already slowed down production on 07 so i bet 08 will be here in the coming 2-3 months. and due to the fewer allocation, prices will stay a bit strong

How do I look up the dealer costs? No, there aren't any other dealers in Charlotte, NC but there is one in Columbia, SC which is only 1 hour away and usually cheaper.

It would be nice if I can get them to sell for 61000

You can get dealer costs at edmunds.com, kbb.com, nadaguides.com, and at Consumer Reports (for a fee and not really worth it since they're all the same prices except CR gives you the hold back and I already told you).

You can offer $61K, but don't take it personally if they laugh you out of the dealership. I don't even think they'll sell a demo that cheaply. But hey, its worth a try, all they can do is say no ........ and laugh!

Good luck, let us know what happens.

hold back is the amount of money dealer will get from manufacturer regardless of the selling price (if i understand correctly). usually it's ~1500 depending on cars

please correct me if i am wrong

You're right Rominl. Once a car sells, the manufacturer gives the dealer 2 to 3% of the base MSRP. American manufacturers and Mercedes pay 3%, and BMW and the Japanese pay 2% to the dealer.

This holdback amount is generally never negotiable, but its good to be aware when bargaining that this is additional profit to the dealer.

yup, so you can think of it as even if the dealership sells a car at invoice, they are STILL making money.

The retail sales date for the MY08 LS460 is 09/07/07 (east) & 08/25/07 (west coast). It's helpful to know this during your dealer negotiations.
