Default Bluetooth - and yet another thread... (phonebook transfer)

Ok, so now I am using Sprint as my carrier, with the Motorola Razr V3m - this phone is compatible with the LS-460 according to the Lexus website.

The bluetooth features include phone book transfer. Although the phone is paired with the car, when I press the transfer phone book button on the nav screen the phone gets disconnected.

What to do?

That's what happens with my t-mobile blackberry. Disconnects each time when trying to do the contacts/phone book transfer. I understand that this means the phone book transfer won't work. Hope you find a work-around or that someone else has a better response.

You might trying looking at the howardforums.com regarding your exact phone to see if there is any helpful detail there.

Same problem here with my Nokia 6275i.

It locks up when I attempt to transfer the phonebook.

I FIGURED IT OUT!!!.... After a lot of frustration I found out how to transfer the phone book.

1 - Press off-hook button on steering wheel to access phone menu

2 - Select "phone book"

3 - Select "transfer phone book" - your phone will disconnect - that's ok.

ON YOUR PHONE:

1 - Select "Contacts"

2 - Scroll to the first entry to transfer

3 - Select "Options" (your menu may vary, my phone is sprint razr)

4 - Select "Select Multiple" (your menu option might be different)

5 - Select all the entries you want to transfer

6 - Select "Send Contact"

7 - Select "Hands Free" (or whatever you called your car. In my case I named it Lexus LS-460)

All selected contacts will be transferred in less than 1 minute. (I had around 300 contacts)

The annoying part is to select all contacts on the phone one by one. My phone doesn't have a menu option called "select all".

Note: Even though the phone disconnects when you select "transfer phonebook" at the nav screen, it will connect again when you do the step 7 above.

Proper way to send all your contacts from a phone to any car is by using "send all contacts via bluetooth" (actual wording varies from manufacturer to manufacturer of course) command from your phone (not from a car) to receiving device that has to be HANDSFREE

It works all the time.

It works with most phones but Verizon cripples this feature on their phones. The only Verizon phonethat I am aware of where you can transfer contacts is the Treo 650 and 700 series where you use the Palm software to do the transfer. Remember though that you can use any phone to transfer the contacts and then use the system for calls with a different phone.

Also, when using non Verizon carriers, some phones only allow transfer of one contact at a time. An example is the Motorola V600 which I use with AT&T.

Thanks Luxo, your method makes sense. I'll try it on mine.
