Post Fuel Economy - here's mine, what's yours?

I've had my LS 460 SWB for just over one month. So far the readout on the center display is bang on with my "at-the-pump" calculation with 1/10 of a liter. I live on a hill, and work on the flats, so my driving profile would be a 50/50 mix.

My City/Highway gas consumption is thus: 12.8 liters/100 km = 18.3761393 miles/gallon(US)

You can get a conversion calculator if you need it here: Online Conversion

I'm also in that range with 50/50 highway and city driving.

On an 80-90k US$ car, why does it matter?

Cuz I'm cheap!

Actually, I once lived on the street, and having been there, I don't easily forget how I got here...

I hear ya, but then why did you get an expensive car?

Also, do you drink bottled water? Or Starbucks? Guess what, they're more expensive than gas!

I have been getting in the low 20's, about 22.5. I do have a fair bit of highway though.

I'm a very conservative driver with the LS, and I've been getting about 20-21 mpg.

Considering this is a very heavy car with a V8, I would say that's pretty good. My IS350 gives me about 22-23 mpg with "enthusiastic" driving...

I've been getting around 18.8 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway.

Sorry - I never even checked.

Can't say I really care.

I just want to concentrate on the driving experience, not on what it takes to run the car.

I'm the same as you, I had my 2 cars for 3+ & 4+ years now, I can't tell my mpg's with them, I never pay any attention to them ...

I've had the car for almost 5 months now and all of my driving is city with average of 24.x mph and I get about 13.5 mpg. I think it's bit on a low side but i kind of expected it for a 4.6 liter engine. I'm a bit concerned now that I'm hearing what others are getting. I'll ask my dealer next time I'm there.

I'm running 93 octane BP. Are you running premium fuel?

That is really bad. Make sure you are using good fuel and check you tire pressure also.

One good observation to make is set the "Multi-Information Display" to Average Fuel Consumption "after a fill-up". You can then easily see that merely idling at a traffic light really sucks up a lot of gas, and brings the "Average Fuel Consumption" number up real quick. I know red lights are hard to avoid in the City, but it may assist you to consider other more efficient routes. It also helps to tone down lead footing - unless that punk next to you really is asking for a spanking.

Yes, it's somewhat paradoxical to expect good fuel economy driving a five thousand pound car, but if we are pitiful victims of our materialistic wants, and we are hopelessly price conscious at the same time, every little bit helps.

I'm using 93 from Texaco and my tire pressure is set to 38 - 40 psi.
