Is this a legal move by Hyundai?
Hyundai has been airing these commercials by comparing their cars to other luxury cars by saying the Hyundais offer the same thing for half the price.
there is the one they have about the Azera and the LS460
http://youtube.com/watch?v=yAvGwWAPwX8
personally, i dont know how they can show that ugly car next to the Lexus
here are the other ones against bmw, land rover

I honestly love those commercials. Too me, what it is saying is if you don't need the status symbol, or the prestigious image, their cars will work just as well as those others for a lot cheaper. I take no offence myself even though I own/owned multiple Lexus and am not quite ready to make the jump to a Hyundai even though I respect them for their massive improvements to their products. I actually think it is a prety good commercial compaign. I work in TV so I watch commercials and TV all day long and this is one of the better ones IMHO.

I agree.. The commercials are very well done, they get the point accross, and they do it with humor.
I drive a 94 LS400, and I love it. But my decision to GET the Lexus was made while driving my girlfriends 06 Sonata on a long trip. It convinced me that I was ready for a large comfortable car.
And very soon Hyundai will have a vehicle that DIRECTLY competes with the Lexus LS. I believe next year the "Genesis" will be here.. It is a large luxury car with a V8 (that they designed) and rear wheel drive. 0-60 in less than 6sec. The reviews are good so far, and I have to admit that the car is very good looking too. The headlights pictured are not the real ones... and the exhaust will not go out thru the bumper.

All this means is that there will just be more competition in the marketplace.... And that is always good for the consumer...
Just wait till the Chinese show up..

I think they're funny! As long as they're not lying in any of their claims, I don't see anything illegal about it (but then I'm not a lawyer, I only play one on this board).

HAHAH, No idea why but that first link to the commercial just made me LAUGH!... Maybe its cause Hyundai is so stupid for comparing there $25,000 car to a $75,000 Lexus.... YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, what were they trying to get at anyway?!?!

Or mabye it would BE stupid to pay $75K for a car when you could pay $25K?? And get MOST of the same goodies. If you figure the depreciation on that new $75K Lexus. It will hurt even more.. in 4 years it will be worth less than half the value. The Hyundai will lose a higher %.. but it is still less $$ overall.
You don't ALWAYS get what you pay for... A loaded Mercedes is more $$ than a loaded Lexus.. and yet Consumer Reports puts Mercedes at the bottom of the list for reliabilty. Hyundai was ranked #6 right after Honda... Mercedes was LAST on the list. Lexus was FIRST on the list. But Hyundai has come a long, LONG way in the last 5 years.
I hate to break it too you.. But not everyone can afford the 80K you are spending for a new LS460... Most of us live in the real world of living paycheck to paycheck.
Just my... $.02

i agree ken. but the commercial just lists some of the things that the hyundai can compare to the LS, like base speakers, climate control etc. They dont say heated and cooled 5 seats, nor sun shades, nor power reclining seats, nor nav, etc etc.
Notice they didnt show so much of the LS interior cause IMO its so much better. lol.
i still think Hyundai interiors need a much bigger upgrade. they cant even offer nav.

Well even if the commercials don't sell too many Hyundais, at least they are entertaining and they are keeping Kelsey Grammer employed by doing the voice-overs for them.
