Is this a legal move by Hyundai?

I saw this commercial too and I think it is stupid. Because they are comparing a fine luxury car like a Lexus and the Lexus LS460 at that to a Hyundai which has been known to be a very cheap quality car in the past. Even Toyota years ago was a better quality then a Hyundai. Hyundai couldn't afford to sell that Azera at that price and put half of the technology into that car to even come close to what the LS460 has. So I would have to say I disagree with that commercial.

Number one thing i noticed is that they didnt show the interior of the LS like they showed the interior of the Hyundai... smart because im pretty sure people just seeing the LS interior would fall in love with the LS. also i would LOVE for lexus to counter with a list of things the LS has that the Hyundai doesnt, the list would probably go on for a while. even though i know it wouldnt happen because Lexus isnt worried.

They arent really trying to steal Lexus buyers they're just saying that people who cant afford a Lexus can buy a Hyundai for 1/3 of the price and still have the comforts of the Lexus with money left over for valet . I really doubt Lexus/Hyundai buyers will cross shop the other.

I don't think you can really compare a Hyundai to a Lexus... Korean made vs. Japanese made... Not doggin on my own kind and all, but I don't like Hyundai due to various of reasons, poor engine layout, ugly (my own opinion)... In Korea, they even have Samsung cars... <~ Not in the US of coarse

I my opinion Lexus LS sets the benchmark for reliabilty, luxury, and customer satisfaction. To be compared is actually a compliment.
No one is going to sit in or drive a Hyundai and say "Is this a Lexus? "
But, I would say for the money its not a bad car.. Much better than a Ford Taurus - - I have the luxury to rent Fords from Hertz every other week! - Junk.. the Hertz rental agent acutally told me that many customers like the Hyundai's after driving them.

Wow! Due to the TV commercials, I went to the Hyundai showroom today. I was blown away by their models. I canceled my LS 460 order and promptly bought the Hyundai.
The pirated styling, the exquisite faux leather, the classic plastic veneers, the fine polyester fabrics and simulated sense of quasi-quality has me sold on these vehicles. You can find me over at Club Hyundai from now on!

I agree, I thought they made the LS look really good. My wife saw it too and I told her that they can make the LS look that good because in reality nobody goes to the Hyundai dealership right after the Lexus. The real competition is Audi/MB/BMW.

The target audience for those ads isn't Lexus/BMW/Land Rover consumers. It's to lure the Toyota/Honda/GM etc consumers over to Hyundai. The ad that bothers me is the Kia one trying to say it's SUV has Precision Steering and then they show it parallel parking - fooling some into thinking it could possibly have the parking guidance system that the LS has.
