Can someone comment on how much above invoice the short wheelbase LS460s are running? I know that most LS460s have been selling at or near MSRP. I was trying to figure out what a good deal on a LS460 would look like. If you can, please provide your purchase price including destination (before tax, title and license fees) and your options for the short wheelbase LS460. Please also comment on when you purchased too. Providing input such as $XXX above invoice or $XXX below MSRP is also very helpful too! Thanks!

That's the reason I got the $2800 off list. I told them if I didn't get a decent discount (they were selling at list) that I would spend the extra $$$'s and go to MB and my wife would switch to Audi......:-)

Might switch to Audi, but would never spend the extra bucks and go to MB.

In my area of the country (northern NJ), black/black is the color, most in demand. When I choose that car on the floor (was literally in showroom for 20 minutes), I had negotiated the price down $2300 for a silver/beige. The wheels were $3K on the black/black and I asked for the original wheels to be placed on the b/b. I was told that they would only sell the black/black with the upgraded wheels. They first said "no discount" and I said it was time for a MB. The sales person came back in 5 minutes and said "$500 off". I said "wrap it up". Total discount $2800

I was at the Carlsbad, Ca dealership this weekend. They had no SWB models on the lot and 2 LWB, one of which was pending customer pickup. My salesman told me that the waiting list for a SWB was still 1-2 months and they aren't giving any discounts yet. They did offer the $2k chrome wheel option to me for $350 back in December, but that's hardly a discount.

I thought Lexus dealers were not allowed to sell over MSRP. I had to take the M5 in for service, and decided to walk over to the Lexus dealer, and they had a LWB with the executive package on the floor. They had the chromes on there for $5K, and a market adjustment of $15K or 20K! I dont remember which one because I partly blacked out.

That is absolutely not true. Dealerships are essentially individually (or sometimes group) owned franchises (for a lack of a better word).

While Lexus/Toyota has some limited ability to control their dealerships (requiring minimal standards of appearance, awarding certificates to better dealerships, etc.) they can not control what prices are asked for the vehicles. That's why an MSRP (manufacturers suggested retail price) is just that. Suggested.

Several dealers in S. CA charged over MSRP for a very short time when the 400h first arrived, the original IS arrived, and the SC430 showed up. Supply quickly caught up with demand in each case and that will be the case with the 460 quite soon.

lexus dealers are strongly discouraged by the factory from selling above msrp, consequences can be loss of cars on allocation. most dealers wont do it, but there are always a few out there who will.
