Default Demonstration of the AutoPark feature on the LS460/LS460L

Here is a demo that they gave at the Taste of Lexus in Irvine of the LS460L using it's autopark feature to parallel park. Notice that both of the drivers hands are out of the window! The whole parking process took about 12 seconds.

Beautiful pics! The car looks great in blue.

I think it's funny, we might see more people with their hands sticking up out of the LS...might become a trend lol .

Wow 12 seconds. Thats much fatsre than the magazines have been reporting, good news. I have read it took between 20 to 25 seconds, and the comment was you could loose your spot during that time.

Verry cool pics, thanks for sharring.

Oh and the Blue looks great!!

From what I understand, there is some slight programming required that would take an additional 7-12 seconds. For this demonstration, the programming had already been done, so I can only assume that you do not need to reprogram it if you are parking in the same spot as you did last time. They did the demo 3 times that I saw and all 3 times it took about 10-15 seconds. The difference in speed can be also attributed to the driver since the driver must keep their foot on the brake during this process to control speed. So, less brake = faster parking!

I still think this feature with mechanism as demonstrated is more gimmicky than anything, I personally don't care if they have it on the car or not . . .

This from the National Media. Looks like they are reallizing that there is a new Lexus on the horizon. Video quality is poor.

It's an amazing feature that's all I know, I can see my self playing with it in the afternoon. I would use it just because it has it.
Wow, how far car technology has come. When I was born the only assistant system we had was regular cruise control.
Earlier this year, we had a new baby in the family (a cousin) and he's going to grow up with cars that automatically keep their distances from cars ahead, brake to a full stop when necessary and park them selves at the push of a button.
That lucky boy!

So true GS... It is really amazing. The technology is being developed faster and faster. Who knows what we will see even in the next 5 years!

The LS460 and 460L is a gorgeous car and, in my opinion, will immediately become an icon for luxury sedans. While the "AutoPark" feature is truly impressive, it strikes me that it's really more of a "show your friends" what your car can do item than something for real-time driving conditions. Nonetheless, quite impressive and amazing!

This morning in the Regis and Kelly TV show out of NY, Regis talked about the advanced parallel parking system in the LS460.

I was hoping for a video clip (not for my self, as I think I have seen many) but for the general viewers so that they will reallize how advanced the modern automobiles can be.

Agreed. There has been more press buzz about the new LS than any other Lexus in a while. That should surely say something about how and who Lexus impressed!
